Overworked

You stared at your list of orders, trying to focus on the words on the page.

It has been a couple of weeks. You had so many orders for bath supplies that it was ridiculous. You felt like there couldn't possibly be enough people in the Encanto for the amount of body wash, shampoo, and bath bombs you had to make. Not to mention the out of town orders that you were busy packaging for your father to take with him.

And let's not mention your own supply of bath products. You had used the last bath bomb Bruno had gifted you with last night. With how much you enjoyed the strawberry scented bombs he gave you for your birthday last year, he gifted you a new set this year. This time they were lavender scented.

You went over to your sink running some cool water to splash into your face. You have been so busy you've only had an hour or two of sleep most nights.

You took your list of orders upstairs with you, searching for some coffee. You grabbed the bag and sighed sadly at the emptiness.

Instead, you reached for your extra sweet iced tea, hoping the sugar would wake you up a little bit.

You looked over the list again, feeling just a tiny bit more awake. You grabbed your delivery boxes from your store room and made trips back downstairs.

You separated the orders by location, starting with the ones to hand your father, who was set to leave in just a few hours.

You had just finished packing them up when you were startled by a knock on the door.

It was your papa, ready to help you load your supply to his cart. You had 12 boxes in all for him to deliver, so you brought the boxes up to your kitchen and he took them to his cart.

After he left you packaged everything else, placing them in batches to place into your wagon.

You left the Madrigal's bath supplies for last, since you planned on visiting your fiancee for a while. You knew Bruno would understand you've been busy, but you still felt bad. You don't want Bruno to worry about you or worry you don't love him.

After filling the wagon, you made your first of several trips to the market.

After another five trips to the bath supply shop, you were ready for your final trip. Taking the Madrigal's bath sets to Casita.

You brought out the color coded boxes for the Madrigals and set them in your wagon.

You were on your way.

(Bruno's pov)

It's been over a week since I've seen Y/n. I know she has many orders to complete, so I've let her take some time to work on them.

It's been two weeks since we've spent any time together. I only saw her a couple of times last week as she rushed about the flower shop and the market, buying things she needed to make her bath supplies.

She looked stressed. I was worried that she hadn't been taking care of herself like she should.

Julieta has been down to her workshop to make sure she eats a little. She would tell me just how much Y/n is doing all at once.

"She is always flitting between her distillers and the pots she had going whenver I show up!" Julieta would tell me when I ask how Y/n is doing.

I've even seen B/n heading inside her workshop to help his older sister. I wanted to help her, but Mama and my sisters needed the help too. Especially Julieta, who needed to do her healing line as well as make house calls.

I came out of my tower just in time to hear Pepa reprimanding Y/n for being gone so long.

"Lo siento Pepa. I didn't want to make the familia worried, I just had so many orders to finish. But I'm done now!" I heard her explain.

"Good!" Pepa exclaimed. "Go visit your fiance then! Bruno has been worrying himself sick!"

"Already planning on it!" Y/n smiled as she took a green box out of her wagon, leaving the rest for Pepa and Casita to handle.

I watched Y/n's eyes light up when she saw me, despite the exhaustion that was clear on her face.

I heard the deep sigh as she wrapped her arms around me. I pulled her close, relishing the feeling of having her in my arms again.

I heard her quietly apologize for having been away for so long. I told her it was okay. She was busy, and I understood her work was important.

"I missed you, though. I hated being away from you for so long." She said.

"I missed you too. Perhaps next time I'll help you with you work." I replied.

She smiled and said she liked that idea.

I led her to my bedroom, thinking about what we could do. Y/n obviously needed to sleep, but she was stubborn.

I decided to have her lay on my bed with me as I read to her. I led her over to the bed and got in behind her, so her head was on my chest.

I pulled our favorite book out of my nightstand. I began to softly read where we left off the last time we were in my room.

I kept my voice soft as I felt her soft breaths through the fabric of my shirt. It was a warmer day, so I kept my ruana off.

It didn't take very long for her to fall asleep. She must have been more worn out than she looked.

She was adorable, just laying in my bed. I smiled at the soft features of my beloved. It felt good having her in my arms again.

I continued reading, hoping my voice helps her have good dreams. She has always told me my voice was soothing to her. It why she loves listening to me talk or read.

I read for a couple more hours, making sure she stayed asleep. I looked up when my stomach began to growl.

It was time for dinner.

I gently moved her off of me, making sure she was comfortable in my bed. I covered her up with my ruana.

"Take a break once in a while mi amor, you need to take better care of yourself." I whispered as I leaned over her. I brushed her cheek lightly, causing her to hum softly in her sleep with a small smile.

I smiled as I softly closed the door behind me, not wanting to disturb the angel sleeping in my bed.

I made my way down to the kitchen, where I found the rest of my family waiting.

"Where is Y/n?" Pepa asked. "I thought she'd still be here?"

"She is. She fell asleep while we were reading, so I just left her on my bed."

"Good. She has been working too hard. She needs the rest." Julieta smiled at me.

"I'll make sure to take some food up for her though, she needs to eat too."

"Good idea Brunito. She can stay the night. I would not want her walking home in her condition." Mama said.

"Or back to her shop. She needs a break." Pepa replied.

We all agreed, and Mama said that she would let Señora L/n know.

We talked about our days as we ate dinner, and I made sure to take a plate of arepas up to my room.

I placed the food on my nightstand and gently shook Y/n.

"Wake up mi amor. I have food for you." I smiled lovingly as she opened her beautiful (color) eyes.

"How long was I asleep?" She asked.

"Only a few hours Cariño. I brought you dinner. Mi familia was worried."

"I should be heading home soon. Mama would be worried if I was out too late..."

"Mama has already called your mother. You're spending the night with me. My whole family feels you need a break from work."

We talked about what we had been up to while she ate. I told her about some of the house calls I had made over the last two weeks, and about helping Julieta with her line.

Y/n in turn told me about the different essential oils she had to make for all of the orders she had. She explained that normally, a 4-ounce bottle would last her about six months to a year.

She had replenished her supply of oils three months ago. The orders were so big, that she had to replenish them again.

She even told me how she had used the last bath bomb I had made her 20th birthday. She sounded so sad that they were gone, but I simply grinned. Even though I wasn't there, I helped her. Something I made has helped her relax. Something I made, made her smile and feel happy.

"I'm glad you enjoyed them mi amor. I hoped they could help you." I told her as I pressed a kiss to her forehead.

"You always help me Bruno. Never doubt that. I'm just sad I'm out of the bath bombs. They were wonderful. That's one thing I never really make for myself, honestly."

"Why not?" I asked, curiously. I know she uses everything else she makes, even her own candles if she wants to go for a relaxing bath.

"I just don't feel the need, most of the time. It also means so much more to me when the ones I do use are from you. That they are something you made, because you were thinking of me. It's just another thing I love about you. You know I don't make bath bombs for myself, but you feel like I should use some to relax. It shows me how thoughtful you are. You truly are an amazing fiance Bruno. I love you more than you know."

"I love you too Y/n. Always."

We talked for a little while before heading out to see the rest of the family. Mama and both of my sisters gave Y/n warm hugs. Mama and Pepa gave her stern looks before telling her not to overwork herself so much.

"You never let Bruno overdo it with his visions! Why do you think we would allow you to over work yourself with your orders?" Pepa ranted with a thundercloud over her head.

For her part, my fiancee just took her scolding with a sheepish smile. Mama told her to have someone help her the next time she had an unusually large order.

"Mi Brunito would always be willing to help you, mija." Mama stated.

"Si Señora, lo siento. I will make sure to ask for help next time..." She replied.

"Make sure you do." Was all Mama said.

Ever the pacifist, Julieta told her that the family only wanted what was best for her. Y/n is always looking out for us and helps us whenever we need it. She should let us do the same for her.

Y/n hugged her and gave her a smile.

After a little while, I decided it was time to head back up to my room. Y/n only had a few hours of sleep, and she needs to get some more.

I pulled her close as we laid down for the night. I held her close and kissed her forehead.

"Good night mi amor. I love you, sleep well." I whispered.

"Good night mi vida. I love you." She smiled softly as she closed her eyes.
