(Day 1 after Casita fell)

It was a strange sensation I woke up to this morning.

It felt as though I was being held, but that was impossible. I took a slow deep breath and frowned.

The body beside me smelled like Bruno, like sand and the sun. It made me think of the days of playing in his oasis, or the trip to the beach the Madrigal's went on before we got engaged.

I opened my eyes, and the first thing I realized, was that I was in my room in the shop, not my bedroom in Bruno's tower.

When we discovered that Bruno had left, Casita had changed the tower. His door led to a new entryway. On one side was a door that led to my bedroom, and the other door led to his tower.

Nobody ever goes into his tower. I couldn't even handle looking at the door to the tower.

The next thing I noticed was the curly mop of hair beside me, and I realized that this wasn't some cruel joke.

My husband was sleeping beside me. As my mind woke up, I remembered everything that had happened over just a few days.

It all began when Alma had cornered me in the kitchen. As usual, she blamed me for my husband's disappearance. Of course, I had always blamed myself for not being there for him.

Julieta rushed to my aid, telling her mother that Bruno's choice to leave wasn't my fault. I had given the healer a grateful smile as I left the kitchen.

I had been planning on returning to my room, but I ran into Mirabel instead. I led her away from the kitchen, wanting to keep her away from Alma.

That was when we found out about the cracks. Mirabel wanted to run to Alma immediately, but I was able to calm her.

"We should find out what is going on before we tell anyone about the cracks. They won't believe us otherwise."

She agreed, and we made plans to discover the cause of the cracks.

I had the feeling that the vision would be important. So that night, I had Mira stay the night with me, and we snuck into my husband's tower.

It was painful for me to be there, but I pushed myself on, looking for the vision. We collected all the shards and put them together in my room.

The next morning, after hardly any sleep we discovered the rats taking the shards. Following them led to my husband.

After a tearful reunion and another vision, we sent Mira to Isabela. I held my husband close as we cried into each other's arms.

I had gone out for food when I found Mirabel in the middle of a heated argument with her abuela.

The house began to crack, and the candle flickered. Casita helped Mirabel and I reach for the candle as it shoved everyone else outside. I feared for Bruno's safety, until I saw him tumble out of the wall with his bucket on his head.

Mirabel had the candle, but we tumbled off the roof. I made sure that the little girl landed on me instead of the floor and I quickly shielded her from the falling debris with my body. Casita shielded us both with a couple of doors.

I had injured my ankle in the fall, and a brick had made a small cut on my hand, but my sobrina was unharmed. I was grateful for that.

Mira ran away, but was quickly found by Alma. Julieta healed me with some remaining drinks that she had made earlier yesterday.

Bruno returned to the family and everyone accepted him back. There was even a tearful reunion between him and our twins.

It was too late to start the clean up by the time we had everyone assembled, and the villagers all congregated around us. So we set up places for everyone to sleep.

Pepa and Felix will be staying with his family. Camilo and Dolores would be with their parents. Julieta and her family will be staying with Agustin's parents. My parents agreed to house the twins while Bruno and I rekindled our relationship at my shop with the apartment above it.

I could feel the tears in my eyes as I gazed at my husband. I had missed him so much over the last four years.

I gently brushed a stray curl out of his handsome face. Bruno smiled as my hand gently grazed his cheek, his eyes opening slightly.

"Good morning, mi vida." I whispered, my breath catching in my throat.

Bruno gazed at me for a moment before pulling me close to him. He breathed a good morning to me as we just held each other close for several long moments.

Before I knew, his lips had been grazing mine, and I melted into him. We stayed like that for several minutes just pouring all of our love and pain from the separation, into the kiss.

We reluctantly pulled apart, getting dressed for the day to join everyone at Casita to begin the clean up.

The day was long, and everyone pitched in to see what was salvageable as we cleaned up the mess.

The good thing was that we were able to keep our dressers with our clothes in them. Only some of the clothing ended up becoming rags.

The day ended with things looking just a tiny bit brighter. We managed to save most of our bedroom furniture, which meant less work for the carpenters.
