You looked up as you got closer to your intended destination, Casita. You ran into Julieta on your way, and she confirmed that your target was home today.
A million thoughts raced through your mind as you hoped that the looming conversation went well.
You knocked on the door, and Casita allowed you in. You were not surprised by the welcome, having spent most of your childhood in the house with your best friends and boyfriend, Bruno.
Alma Madrigal came down the stairs, smiling gently to see you standing there.
"Buenas Dias Y/N. I must say that I'm surprised to see you here this morning. Bruno is busy right now.
"Buenas Dias Ma'am. I know he is busy; I was actually, hoping to speak to you if you're not busy."You replied. She nodded politely and gestured to the kitchen.
"Did you want suggestions for your date with my Brunito tonight?" She promptly asked as Casita poured two cups of delicious coffee.
"I have a couple of ideas for what I would like to do. The reason I'm here is to discuss one of my plans with you. Bruno has been very busy with his visions lately, and I want to make tonight memorable. So, I came here to request your permission to propose to him." You stated. She gave you a shocked look.
"It is unusual for the lady to propose Y/N. Shouldn't you wait for him to do it?"
"I genuinely love Bruno with all my heart Ma'am, and we both know that he is very shy. He also struggles with his self-worth and often wonders why I am with him instead of someone more popular. I'm not interested in anyone but him, and I hope that a proposal from me might help him see that."You explained, and she thought it over for a few minutes.
"That is a wonderful idea dear. Do you require assistance?"She asked, smiling.
"No Ma'am, I merely required your permission." You began, and then went on to tell her what you had planned and showed her the ring you had made for him.
You left Casita 45 minutes after you arrived, giving yourself plenty of time to set up your date night.
There was a small cave system in the familiar mountains that surround the Encanto, where you and Bruno spent much of your childhood.
You felt that the enchanted cave, an extremely significant place for both of you, would be perfect for tonight.
BRUNO POV
The day was nearly over. It has been an easy day, but it felt like it was dragging. I worked through the visions I needed to do, patiently waiting for my date with the wonderful Y/N.
I have no idea why such an stunning, gorgeous woman like her would be romantically interested in the miserable ratman.
I finally concluded my work for the day, and I rushed eagerly to my bathroom to get ready for our date.
I wanted to look nice, so I had bought a brand-new outfit for this date.
Not knowing what to wear, I had humbly asked Pepa's fiance, Felix to assist, with the caveat to veto any choices that I would feel uncomfortable in.
He actually had excellent taste when he suggested a green button up dress shirt and brown pants. The colors matched my traditional attire perfectly, and I was able to ask the local seamstress to include my hourglass design on the sleeves, which she agreed to.
I let my mother know that I am heading out, and she gave me a light smile and told me to enjoy myself.
I smiled merrily to myself as I made my way to our grotto to meet up with Y/N.
I found her, carefully setting up a picnic near the private pond, with an area a short distance away set up for what looked like a telenovela. The set did not look like one of mine.
Did she write a telenovela for this date?
I felt thrilled at the possibility.
I turned back to gaze at my novia, looking gorgeous in a charcoal grey dress and a sage green headwrap. She looked up once she had everything laid out. She stood up and greeted me with a tender kiss and a whispered compliment on how I looked. I quietly replied that she looked exquisite as always.
After a delicious dinner of empanadas, we moved on to my favorite activity, telenovelas. This time Y/N wrote one out, for the rats to act out and for us to voice.
I had instantly noticed that she hadn't given the characters names, so I figured that this was a rough draft.
We had gone through a few episodes worth of script before I noticed that part of the script was missing.
I turned in confusion which quickly turned to shock as I saw her on one knee behind me, a little black box in her dainty hand,
"This was where I first began to fall in love with you. We were just laying here, relaxing in the soft glow of the moss. You had your eyes closed and a gentle smile on your face. It was the first time I had seen you so carefree, and I wanted to see that more often. I wanted to be the reason you felt that way. If you will allow me, I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy, because you are my happiness. I don't need a vision, to know that you are my future. All I want is you. So, Bruno Madrigal will you marry me?" She opened the ring box to reveal a sterling silver ring with an emerald as the stone.
I nodded eagerly, unable to speak because of the immense joy and love I was feeling for the incredible woman if front of me.
She grinned as she stood up and put the ring on my finger. I smiled back at her lovingly as I carefully pulled a black box out of my pants pocket.
I had bought a ring for her a while back and carried it with me everywhere in case I finally got the courage to ask her.
I had asked Mr. Torres, the local jeweler, to forge the ring for me. She must have asked him at around the same time, because I now recall his mischievous grin when he agreed to make the engagement ring.
Our rings looked like they were developed to be a set.
I placed the ring on her finger and pulled her in for a deep kiss, as I tried to she her just how happy she makes me.
As long as I have her by my side, I know that my future is promising.
