Mef and Jaida looked at the monitor as they heard their babies heart beat. Jaida closed her eyes tightly, trying to avoid the tears from falling. To hear her baby's heart beat was overwhelming for her. She was so in love already. She looked over at Mef and he locked eyes with her, no emotion on his face. He gave her a kiss on her hand. She hated how closed off he could be, it's hard to ever know what he's thinking. Looking at the grape-sized baby on the monitor, she felt so guilty at the thought of even thinking about aborting her baby.

An hour later, as Jaida's discharge approached, her parents entered the room with eager smiles on their faces. "How you feeling? You're about to embark on motherhood," her mom beamed. Jaida rolled her eyes, wincing slightly as she sat up in bed.

"Mom I honestly don't think I can keep it." She confessed.

Garrett quickly interjected, his voice firm. "uh uh no. We don't do abortions over here."

Jaida mustered up her courage and responded, defending her stance, "Me and Cliff aren't together. He's separated but still married. His schedule sometimes causes him to be away for a while. He already has a lot going on. I don't wanna be just another baby momma. My career is my focus right now. I don't want my child to grow up in separate households."

Anita nodded understandingly, her tone gentle, "I get that baby girl but children are blessings. Not to be harsh but you knew all of this about him before you got pregnant. You gotta figure it out but abortion is not the option." Jaida knew her parents weren't going to give her the support she wanted in regards to her decision. Her parents taught her that you have to deal with whatever choices you make, whether it be good or bad but taking the easy way out isn't an option.

Jaida's father chimed in, curious about Cliff's perspective. "How does Cliff feel about the news?"

Jaida shrugged, a hint of uncertainty in her voice. "I don't know. He pressed me about wanting to get an abortion without talking to him. I know he's not happy about it. But we didn't talk about it really."

"Well honey," Garrett started, "You two are adults. I've spoken with him and y'all gotta do the same. This is bigger than what y'all fighting over. Like your mother said, y'all gotta figure it out for the sake of this baby." Jaida sighed heavily, her heart burdened by the weight of the situation. Just then, Mef walked into the room, unknowingly interrupting the family moment. "Oh, excuse me," he apologized, about to leave.

Garrett quickly stopped him with a request. "Um, Cliff, can I have a moment?"

Mef turned towards him, nodding. "Yeah, sure."

The two men exited the room, leaving Jaida and her mother exchanging a knowing look. Jaida whined softly, anticipating her father's tough approach. "Dad's going to give him a hard time. I just know it."

Anita chuckled lightly, placing a comforting hand on her daughter's knee. "Your dad is just concerned."

The tension between the two men was in the air as they locked eyes, their expressions reflecting the seriousness of the situation. Garrett sighed deeply and ran his hand over his head, searching for the right words to express the difficult situation at hand. "Jaida brought up the topic of abortion," Garrett began, his voice tinged with concern. Mef looked away, shaking his head in disbelief. Garrett continued, "she feels that with everything that's going on with your life, adding this baby will be too much which is what's influencing her decision."

Mef ran his hand over his head. Disappointment written all over his face. "Mr. Steele, I don't even know how she can think of doing something like that."
