Jaida slumped on the couch, flipping through the channels on TV. Her heart sank when she stumbled upon the MTVJAMS station, Method Man ft. Mary J. Blige "You're All I Need" video playing.

Anger and sadness churned in her stomach, and she quickly shut off the TV

Anger and sadness churned in her stomach, and she quickly shut off the TV. She couldn't bear to see his face or hear his voice anymore. If only she could erase him from her memory completely. Christmas, New years and Valentines Day came and went. The gifts, flowers, and chocolates from Mef remained in its original packaging as Jaida refused to open them. It had been three long months since Jaida had cut off all contact with him, and that's how she intended to keep it. She cursed herself for letting her guard down. She was all in when Mef presented her with separation papers and expressed his feelings for her. She thought he was all in too but guess not.

Persistent knocking echoed through the living room, disrupting Jaida's thoughts. As she opened the door, Tia's excited face greeted her, oblivious to Jaida's mood. "Are you gonna help me with me moving in my new apartment or what?" Jaida rolled her eyes and walked away from the door. Tia walked in, following her in the living room. She turned on the tv and Mef's video was still on.

"Tia, turn that shit off!" Jaida yelled, her voice laced with frustration.

Tia quickly complied. "You still haven't spoken to him, have you," she asked softly.

"Fuck him Tia." Jaida spat.

"I know it's fucked up but why don't you just hear him out?!" Tia pleaded.

"To say what Tia?! He's a liar!" Tears started to form in Jaida's eyes. Tia got up and hugged her.

"Friend I don't want you to be by yourself today. You've been overworking yourself on purpose at work. I barely see you. You're being a hermit crab again," she whined. "Come help me move. Red is there too. Once we're done you and I can go out to eat," Tia said pulling away from the hug.

Jaida sighed not really wanting to be out but she didn't feel like dealing with Tia's begging and whining. "Igh let me get ready."

Jaida meticulously unpacked the cardboard boxes, organizing their contents in the new kitchen. As she worked, beads of sweat began to form on her forehead, and a wave of nausea washed over her. Hastily, she made her way to the bathroom. She hugged the toilet as she threw up. Jaida hesitantly, retrieved the pregnancy test from her bag that she had purchased weeks before but never had the courage to use. Her periods were irregular but the persistent nausea had been difficult to ignore, and now, curiosity got the best of her. With trembling hands, she unwrapped the test and carefully followed the instructions. Moments felt like an eternity as Jaida anxiously waited for the results. The word "pregnant" appeared on the test, and her heart sank

Pregnant. I'm fuckin pregnant. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she began to cry silently, overwhelmed by the weight of her situation. She loved kids but she didn't know anything about being a mom. Kids slow you down and she was always on the go. All she knew was this isn't what she wanted at this time in her life. In the midst of her anguish, Reggie entered the bathroom, "Oh shit my fault Jaida," he said as he dropped the box in his hands, startled. Jaida tried to hide the wrapper and the test but Reggie spotted it.
