Jaida sat along the meeting table along with her team. "I just want to say congratulations to Cassandra for closing on that 800k home for Mr. Clifford Smith. Let's give her a hand," Jaida announced. The team of eight clapped their hands while Cassandra smiled. "Keep it up ladies. I am so proud of you all. Meeting has now been adjourned," Jaida said as she got up from the table. The team gathered their things and dispersed. Jaida's phone vibrated, she looked down and noticed it was the guy Khairi from last night.

Khairi: hey sweetheart. Wyd today?
Jaida: had nothing planned after work. Why?
Khairi: can I take you out tonight?
Jaida: hmm depends on where...
Khairi: there's this bomb ass steakhouse I've been wanting to try in the city. You down?
Jaida: yeah that's cool.
Khairi: igh cool. How does 8pm sound? I can pick you up.
Jaida: 8pm is good and don't worry about it I'll find my way there.
Khairi: okay no problem. See you tonight.

Her secretary, Crystal, entered her office holding a bouquet of flowers. "Boss lady, you have a delivery," Crystal announced, offering Jaida the beautiful flower arrangement. "Thank you, Crystal," Jaida said with a puzzled look on her face. She pulled out the card.

I don't wanna fight witchu. I apologize. Call me when you get this. -Cliff

Jaida playfully rolled her tongue inside her cheek, trying to suppress her smile. She then rolled her eyes and picked up her phone, dialing Cliff's number.

"I assume you got the flowers," he answered without even saying hello.

"I did. Thank you Cliff, they're beautiful," Jaida replied sincerely.

"No doubt...what you doing tonight?"

"Goin on a date," Jaida said with a smile.

"With that nigga from last night?" He asked, with curiosity in his voice.

"Uh huh."

"He picking you up at the crib?" He further questioned.

"Hell no. I don't want him to know where I live. Ima just take a cab."

"I'll pick you up at the house and drop you off."

"Cliff that's unnecessary-"

"Just hit me when you getting ready," Mef interjected, cutting her off before abruptly ending the call.

Jaida rolled her eyes 'this nigga don't take no for an answer', she sighed and logged back into her laptop.

Later that night

Jaida put the finishing touches on her outfit. She wore her long curly hair to the side, dressed in a brown satin maxi dress with a low neckline and high split on the side. Just as she finished perfecting her look, her phone buzzed with a message from Mef: "I'm outside." With a quick application of lipstick, she swiftly grabbed her purse and left her house in a hurry. As she entered the car, Jaida caught Mef's gaze slowly roaming over her outfit, a mischievous grin creeping onto his face. Jada returned the smile subtly admiring how good he looked.

"Just wanna remind you what I said last night. That nigga better keep to himself," he lowly said, starting the car.

Jada cut her eyes at him, "Mef you don't have to be overprotective. Truly. I'll be okay."

Mef glanced at her in silence, looking at her outfit once more, then placed his focus back on the road. "You over there wearing dresses with your legs out and shit. I'm just tryna protect you. You, Tia and Shay...I'll always do that for y'all," his tone was low and sincere, "I know how niggas can be out here."
