If looks could kill both Mef and Modest would've been dead where they stood. She couldn't believe what was just revealed. Despite the rush of emotions, she quickly composed herself, putting on a stoic poker face. She was determined not to show any weakness in front of Modest, who wore a slight smirk on her face. "I found out yesterday," he started to say, wanting to get ahead of any questions Jaida had. "How many months is she?" Jaida asked, cutting her eyes at him. "Seven months. With twin boys." He swallowed hard, nervously waiting for her reaction. He was shocked at the news modest harbored so he could only imagine what's going through Jaida's mind.
Jaida's knees wanted to give out once she heard 'twin boys'. She wanted to scream, cry and flip everything over but she appeared unbothered on the outside. Jaida averted her eyes at Modest with a straight face, "congratulations."
"I thought it'd be best for y'all to actually meet due to the circumstances," he said talking to both women as they glared at each other. "I don't want no drama and no bullshit. Yall both pregnant. Modest, this is Jaida, my woman and you goin have to respect that," he stated firmly.
"I don't got a problem with ya little girlfriend," she remarked and before Jaida was about to fix her lips to cuss her out, he spoke, "you see that? Dead that shit." He firmly commanded causing her to roll her eyes.
Modest briefly put her hands up in the surrender position, "look none of this was planned. I'm sorry to rain on y'all little fairytale but all I wanna continue to do is have a peaceful pregnancy and bring my babies into the world safely." Mef stood there uncomfortably torn between his anger at Modest for keeping this information from him and his devastation for hurting Jaida.
A heavy silence hung in the air until Jaida turned to walk away. "I'll meet you outside," Mef abruptly instructed Modest before following Jaida to the room. Jaida doubled over, a sharp pain in her lower abdomen as tears streamed down her face. He hurried to her side, placing a comforting hand on her back. "Baby, I'm so sorry."
She stood up, shoving and pounding on his chest, unleashing all her pent-up frustration and anger. He stood there, absorbing every blow. "I didn't mean for this to happen I—," he tried to say.
"How could you let this happen?!" she shouted, giving him one last forceful push. He was speechless, realizing this was a nightmare he couldn't wake up from. No matter how hard he tried to do right, there was always something being thrown his way.
"This not the first time she's been pregnant," he lowly confessed. Jaida's stomach churned, vomit rising in her throat. She ran to the bathroom, throwing up violently. He followed closely behind, tenderly brushing her hair away from her face as she emptied her stomach. When she finally stopped she looked at him, her face flushed with tears, she spoke hoarsely, "She's been pregnant before...by you?" He nodded his head. "Listen, I'll tell you everything." He pleaded, desperation in his voice. "Just please, don't leave. I need to talk to Modest." With those words, he sprang to his feet, hurrying out of the room, leaving a distraught Jaida behind.
Seated in the car, he slammed the door behind him. "Is it mine?" He huffed with aggravation.
Her neck snapped, looking at him like he was crazy. "fuck you!"
"Why the fuck you didn't tell me you were pregnant and why the fuck am I finding out on the radio?" His voice rose slightly, but his gaze remained fixed ahead, trying to keep his composure.
"I found out not too long ago after thanksgiving," she admitted. "The night of thanksgiving you told me you ain't want shit to do with me and you blocked me." She shrugged. "Family and close friends knew. I don't know how it got out." She mumbled.
