Mef was released the next day, his mind still buzzing with thoughts of Jaida and it was all in the news and the blogs of what happened last night. He had a performance scheduled for that evening before leaving town, and he couldn't shake the mixed emotions that had been building up inside him.

The lyrics flowed effortlessly from his lips, and he connected with the audience in a way only he could. Tia and Jaida were present and watched in awe as he performed. Mef was a natural, Jaida smiled on the inside watching him in his element. He could be closed off, guarded and rough but he was also charismatic, sweet, and a jokester when he wanted to be. As the song reached its peak, Mef jumped off the stage and made his way towards the front row, rapping directly to the fans. While the crowd rapped along and screamed for his attention, he spotted Tia and gave her a side hug.
He rapped to the crowd, "Word life, you don't need a ring to be my wife...just be there for me and I'ma make sure we be...living in the effin' lap of luxury...I'm realizing that you didn't have to funk with me...but you did...now I'm going all out kid. And I got mad love to give..." Mef rapped into the microphone, his gaze now fixed on Jaida, delivering his last line of the first verse, he pointed at her, and pounded his chest, "you my nigga!" The crowd went wild, their voices joining together in unison throughout the whole song.
Tia watched in amusement and shock, realizing that Mef was essentially rapping to Jaida. What was once a song he had written specifically for his wife Tamika when they were dating; it was now something that he strongly felt for Jaida. There was an undeniable connection between Mef and Jaida, even though they hadn't been on speaking terms. Nonetheless, Jaida was flattered and couldn't help but get butterflies inside.
As the concert came to an end, Mef eagerly caught up with the girls backstage. "Yo, Tia! Jaida!" he called out. Both girls turned around. He walked up to them embracing them both, with his cool and smooth demeanor, " 'preciate yall for coming out tonight. Jaida, can I rap witchu you for a minute?"
Jaida glanced at Tia. Tia shrugged and walked off, leaving the two in the middle of the hall. Mef stared at Jaida, his mind racing to find the right words to express his gratitude. "Thank you...for having my back last night. I shouldn't have asked you to do that," he said.
Jaida shook her head and replied, "Cliff, I couldn't just let you get caught up in that."
A heavy silence hung in the air.He nodded, "Well once again...I appreciate it."
He began to walk away, and Jaida felt a wave of defeat wash over her. She knew she had to take a chance before it was too late. "I want you!" She stomped in defeat, calling out to him, stopping him in his tracks. He turned around, walking back towards her. "What you say?" he asked, unsure if he had heard correctly. Jaida took a deep breath, her words stumbling out in a rush, "I—I'm sorry about that night. When we kissed, it scared me. All of this scares me. You scare me! The feelings I have for you...I didn't think the day we met would lead to all of this. You mean a lot to me, and I didn't want to mess up our friendship. I didn't want to hurt you, but I didn't want to hurt Khairi either. I took the easy choice, but I want you to know that you're my choice... I want you," she confessed, tears welling up in her eyes. Her adrenaline was pumping and her. Opening her heart again was terrifying, but she knew she had to get this off her chest.
