A week later

Tia and Jaida sat down at the lounge after a long day of work. Tia, always one to get straight to the point, didn't waste any time.

"So, you're really feeling this Khairi guy, huh?" she asked with a sly smile.

Jaida grinned. "It's too early to say, but I genuinely enjoy talking to him. We've hung out a couple of times since our first date, and we've been on the phone every day, even if it's just to check in."

"Hm Mef ain't goin like that," Tia said taking a quick sip from her cup.

"And what's that supposed to mean," Jaida asked genuinely confused.

Tia let out a small chuckle before elaborating. "It means he's not going to like the fact that his spot is being taken. He's usually the one you're on the phone with for hours. Now you got this Khairi dude?" Tia stated which caused Jaida to think, Tia continued, "Mef is in love wit yo ass," she declared, hoping Jaida would finally see what was right in front of her.

Jaida's brows furrowed as she processed Tia's words. "Tia, Mef has never said anything like that to me. We're just really good friends," Jaida defended, trying to make sense of her friend's concern.

"Good friends my ass!" Tia said cutting her off. "Did Mef ever tell you what he was supposed to tell you before you had cut him off?"

Jaida paused, as her face scrunched up in confusion, "Actually he didn't. Let me text him." She whipped out her phone.

Jaida: hey you never told me what u were gonna tell me when u came back in town.

She sipped on her drink as she patiently waited for his response. She saw that he was typing, but he quickly erased it. He started typing again and it seemed as if it was a long message. A few minutes later the typing icon disappeared.

Mef: don't worry about it. When the time is right...you'll know.

Jaida rolled her eyes as she showed Tia the message. She couldn't help but to think of what it could be that he wanted to tell her but couldn't at this time. The curiosity was killing her now. Tia rolled her eyes and waved her hand away as she read the message. "You never know what that man is thinking. He's so annoying," Tia laughed shaking her head.

Jaida shook her head as well, "I definitely agree. But How's you and your boo Elijah?"

Tia rolled her eyes and sighed, "We're...good. Steady....stagnant."

"Well shit Tia, you tryna get married today," Jaida joked.

"Ugh! No but we've been dating for awhile and...I haven't met his family. He's met mine and they all love him. He keeps giving me excuses but maybe he's ashamed of me or something," Tia said with a hint of defeat in her voice.

"Girl don't say that. I can tell that man adores you. Just be patient," Jaida said.

Two Hours later

Jaida sat at the lounge, engrossed in her phone as she texted Khairi. Suddenly, her eyes widened as she read his message.

"Bitch, he said he's coming here!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with shock.

Tia panicked along with Jaida, "Coming here?! When? Now?!" Before Jaida could respond, their eyes locked on the sight of Khairi walking through the door, capturing the attention of everyone in the room. His hair was hanging way past his shoulders, he was extra fine today. It felt like time stood still as he made his way towards Jaida, his focus solely on her.

"Hey, baby girl," Khairi greeted, opening his arms for Jaida to embrace him. Jaida blushed shyly.

"Tia, this is Khairi, Khai this is my best friend Tia," Jaida introduced.

Tia's jaw dropped, mesmerized by his beauty, "Black Jesus," she blurted out, unable to contain her admiration.

He laughed. "How you doin Tia," he said charmingly.

"I'm sorry. Excuse my behavior. My friend here told me you were fine but she ain't say you was that fine," Tia said damn near drooling over this man.

Jaida rolled her eyes laughing at her crazy friend. "What you doing here Khai," Jaida asked.

He shrugged, "Oh I was in the area. You told me you was here so I thought I could see your sweet face for a minute. What y'all drinking?"

Jaida blushed. Tia eagerly chimed in, as she sucked on her straw, "Our favorite martinis." Khairi nodded, licking his lips, and pulled out his card, placing it on the bar counter.

He motioned for the bartender with a head nod, "scuse me. Use this for their tab." The girls paused in awe, watching him, he turned to them, "Igh y'all I'm out. It was nice meeting you Tia."

Jaida chimed in, "But your card."

"It's ok, get whatever y'all want. Hold onto the card until the next time I see you. Hit me later baby girl," he said giving her a kiss in the cheek and then leaving.

Jaida was feeling giddy on the inside and Tia squealed with excitement. Jaida scanned the room and noticed the envious glares from other women. She chuckled and rolled her eyes.

"Bitch! He gave you his card! Mef got some competition!" Tia exclaimed, downing her drink with enthusiasm.
