The next few days flied by quickly. The boys started training every day, which required them to wake up early every morning. By the time they came home it was late at night, and they were far too tired to do anything.

"Good morning." I muttered as I sat up. "Good morning." Jake said grabbing a roll of bandages. He gently lifted his shirt off, gritting his teeth from the pain. "Jake...? Where did you get those?" He grunted, "I got cut during a practice that involved swords."

"There are so many scars... do they still hurt?" There was a brief silence before Jake responded. "Some of them do."

My eyes watered. There were hundreds. I grabbed the roll of bandages and wrapped them around his torso. "Is it really your last day?"

"Yes. Tomorrow, everything will change." I leaned my head on his chest, small droplets forming in my eyes. Jake gently grabbed my hand, and ran his thumb over my wedding ring. "Kai... is something wrong?" Jake asked polity."Of course there is..."

"You're leaving after tonight... who knows how long the war will be... and if you'll even survive..." Jake gently chuckled. "I'll be back...I promise." he said, his eyes watering. "And when I come back... lets all get together..."

I nodded, and hugged him tightly. "I love you." Jake gently chuckled. "I love you, Kai."

"Jake, it's time to go." General said, walking into the room. "You're awake..." General said. "I nodded, and kissed Jake before letting him leave. "Hold on..." He handed me a small book, and gently smiled. "Read it..." He glanced over at Lily and waved. "Bye-bye Lily... Papa will be back at night." Jake waved goodbye, before leaving for training. "See you later..."

"See ya..." Once the door firmly close behind him, I sat on the bed and looked at the book.

The blue eyed man  I opened up the book. Written on the inside: Read  days I am not with you.  And underneath, he signed his name. I sighed, and placed the book down on the night-table. "Well, it seems interesting. There's no actual description of it. Eh, let's call it as surprise.

"I heard Lieutenant Strong is moving his family to a house far from all the war... were you aware of that?" Kai's father nodded. "Yes... my daughter has told me." Ronald got up from his seat, and walked over to the tall bookshelf. "Seems like he doesn't want his family to get involved." Ken gently smiled. "Well, that would make sense. Mr. Hope is very demanding. He took General Gray's child away from him. He couldn't do anything either. He promised that no harm would be done until the official day of war."

"His child is being used against him. Cedric Gray, is  the most intelligent man in the world."  Ronald nodded. "Mr. Hope was the one... who sent his men to kill Cedric's parents. He just doesn't know yet."

Ken brushed through his gray hair, and looked down at his cup of tea. "I am much interested in this war. Lieutenant Strong may not know this but... the chances of him dying during battle is at 90%. There is no possible way he'll survive."

Kai's father looked at Ken, shocked. "It is very unfortunate, but there is nothing left that anyone can do for him. It is best, to enjoy the time we have with him. I suppose you should tell you're daughter to do the same."

Kai's father stood up from his chair. "I am going to visit my daughter." Ronald gently smiled. "Could you please give this to her? It's the gift from us." He nodded, and left the house.

"I wonder if he's met their child." Ronald said, pouring himself another cup of tea. "Who knows..."

Around noon, there was a small knock on the door. "Coming!" I yelled out. "Yes...? Can I help you-" I stood in shock. "Dad..."

He gently smiled. "I heard you gave birth... I'm sorry I couldn't be there."

I gently smiled, "Would you like to come in?" He nodded, and walked in. I walked into our room and gently smiled. "Would you like to meet her?"

He nodded, and smiled once  he saw Lily. I lifted her up from her crib, and handed her to him. "She's beautiful... She looks just like you..."
