He leaned closer, almost giving me another kiss. I gently held my hands against his chest, trying to stop him. "Only friends!" I chided. Emotionless, he looked at the chains that held me at the wall. I was going to open my mouth, and say something, but the thunder interrupted me. "Crap!"

He ran towards the table, pushing dishes off. "We have to get out of here right now!"

"What? Why?" I stood, looking at his worried face. He grabbed the key off the table, jabbing it into the lock. "It's not opening!"

He faced the chains, pulling each one just in case one was loose. But there was no luck.

"What's the big deal?" He wiggled the key in each lock once more. "We'll drown in here unless we get you out!"

My eyes widened, looking at his worried and impatient face. "It may only look like a small hole in the roof, but it's not!"

I could tell he was in panic. And that's when it started to pour. The icy water trickled down us, causing him to worry even more. Immediately, the roof started to melt away, almost as if the roof itself wasn't waterproof, and started to break like soaked paper.

"What now? There's nothing left for you to do! Go, and save yourself!" I yelled over loud rain. He shook his head.

        I pushed him, "Go!"

His eyes watered. "I'm not going to leave you here!" I could tell I hit a wall. He was worried. "You don't have to save me! I'm just a stranger!"

I could tell he was upset, from his blue eyes. He quickly held me close. He held me like it was the end. My eyes watered. "If you're going to die... we'll die together. Because... that's what friends do."

I never had a real friend. I had my neighbors, I had acquaintances, but I never had someone like The Island Boy around. I never even met someone like him. To be honest, the only boy I've actually talked to was my father, and the neighbor. I had no boys in my life to be quite honest.

It was nice, Having a friend like him around.  It was interesting.

The cold water reached up to our chests, the Island Boy holding me desperately. There was no warmth between us anymore, and my eyes started to slowly close. His hands grabbed my shoulder, shaking me violently. "Hey! Stay awake!"

        I gently smiled. "ugh..."

The water continued to pour, my white shirt sticking to my stomach. "I'm tired. let me rest..."

He shook me again. "You can't sleep yet! Stay awake!"

I slouched on his shoulder, yawning. "How much longer?"

The Island boy looked at the key once more, as it floated around. The water, reaching the bridge of my nose, was growing. His eyes widened. "What's wrong?" I dimly asked. He pulled away, and grasped my icy  hands. He dove into the water.

"Jake!!" I yelled, noticing that his hand had loosened its grip, and had slipped out of my hand.

There was a sudden ping in my heart...don't go! I took a breath of air, and went under the water, to try and find him. I could see him through the clear water, his tan fingers finally grasping the key, and swimming back.

Our heads popped out of the water, simultaneously. "What were you thinking?!"

He stayed silent, glancing at the key. It somehow looked different, the edges were curved, and looked like it could now fit through the lock.

He wiggled the key into the lock, and turned it. He smiled, looking at me astonished.

With a click, the chains popped off. He grabbed my hand, and pulled me toward the roof. "Go first! I'll go right after you!" I nodded.

He held the ball of my foot, holding me up. Once I was close enough, I gripped the remaining of the roof, hoping that it wouldn't fall off.

I pulled myself up, then held my hand out. "Grab on!" His fingers clumsily held on, I started to pull.

Using all my strength, I tried to hold onto his hands hoping that they wouldn't slip. Finally, I found myself on the edge of the roof, "A bit more!" He yelled. I pulled once more, causing me to fall off. "Ah!"

I feel with a thud, the Island Boy falling after me.

"Ow..." he quickly realized, and got off. "I'm sorry." he muttered, lending a hand out.

"It's fine." I grasped his hand, and pulled myself up. With mud in my hair, and mud on my hands, i hugged him. "We made it." I remarked with a grin.

"Indeed we did." he said with a chuckle.
