In a matter of minutes we finally arrived at the right time. In fact, we got here at just the right time so we could get set up. "You'll be in the largest room, room 22A. Here are your passes." She said giving us the necklaces. "Once you get in, you'll be set up with microphones."
We nodded, and headed down to the door. "We should be early enough for it to be nice and quiet-"
Jake's fingers quickly covered mine when he saw the amount of people standing outside. "Make way, please form a line. Make way!" The woman said creating a small path for us to enter.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Okay." She said, closing the door gently behind her. "We have ten minutes for us to get started so, lets all split up and do our jobs evenly. Peter, I want you and Wendy to get the flyers. As soon as you get the flyers all ready, I'm going to need you to open the doors when everyone is backstage getting ready." Peter nodded, and glanced over at Wendy who covered her emotions pretty well.
"Jake, Kai and General you'll be behind the curtains with the makeup and special effects crew. Cedric, feel free to have some cookies before your role starts." He gently smiled, and followed the small group behind the curtains to get his cookie.
"What do you mean Special effects?" Jake asked politely. "Don't worry about it. We'll just be adding a few things here and there."
The three adults (and Cedric) were shoved in a small dark room. "Hey wait!" Jake hit the door, trying to get out. Suddenly a bright green light was behind shone in their faces. "Please stand still against the wall while we scan you." The voice said over the microphone.
They did as they were told as the green light moved up and down their bodies. "Scan completed. Kai Strong, Jake Strong, Cedric Gray and General Gray detected." The door opened back up again, and she smiled. "See, that wasn't that hard was it?"
"What did you do to us?" Kai asked. "I simply scanned you. That's all. Shall we test it?" She pulled out a remote and pressed A, B, C and D. "This activates your copies." She explains as four realistic humans walk through the door. "With this remote, and your voices you can control who is doing what. Here, I'll use and example. Cedric hugs Kai."
She switched Jake and General off the floor and waited for the action to take place. And behold, Cedric wraps his hands around Kai's waist, his head nudging her stomach. "I also have this feautre."
Cedric disappears and in Kai's hands, a small baby appears. "This is what she actually looks like."
"She?" Jake asks. "Yes, she. The scans took in her DNA, and were able to develop a model for her. This is what your child will look like in the mere future."
She said pressing a spare button. Suddenly a small child appeared next to the Cedric clone. The looked at each other smiled, and held hands. The girl was beautiful. Her hair was curly and was almost identical to Kai's. Her eyes were bright blue, just like Jake's. Kai was speechless, and so was Jake. Before they were able to say anything, the image was blurred, and the children were gone.
"Starting in five minutes!" A man yelled loud enough for us to hear. "Cedric can you please greet the crowd for us?"
He gently smiled, and walked towards the curtain. He grabbed a mic from the table and got on the stage.
The room was full, with people sitting at each and every table. The dining room was huge, so that was something
"Hi everyone! How are you doing today?" The crowd responded mostly of 'great' or in the rare event 'perfect.' "Our speakers will be showing up in five minutes. While you are waiting our staff will start taking your orders!"
Groups of men and woman wearing formal attire strolled through the crowd, attending to each and every guest.
Cedric could see a spare set of eyes from the back of the room. That worried him. They were sharp and narrow. He wouldn't take his eyes of the poor boy, and for that Cedric started to shake.
It was then when Kai had taken the mic from his hands. "It's okay Cedric, we'll get through this together." and Kai gently pulled him behind the curtain, his eyes never leaving the dining room.
"Kai something feels odd about this..."
"What's wrong?" General asked, bending down and placing a hand on the boy's shoulder. "It feels like someone here is unwanted."
