Chapter 17 – Register to Get Married Along the Way Part 1

After playing by the river for a while, they decided to go to Zu Hua’s place since they still had time today.

They were going to do everything they could do in one day to save themselves from worrying about it in the future.

When they were back in the car, Yan Lin started the car and then remembered to ask, “We are going over right now. Can you call aunt and tell her we’re coming earlier? Or else it would be presumptuous.”

Who would have thought that Zu Jin would reply with, “There’s no need to call, my mother must be playing mahjong at home right now.”

“We really don’t need to call her in advance?”

“So troublesome!”

After driving for almost an hour, they finally arrived at the residential area where Zu Hua lived.

After going up the stairs, they saw that the door was wide open, and Zu Hua was really playing mahjong with her mahjong friends.

The living room was full of smoke and swear words were flying. However, it instantly became quiet when the two of them walked in.

“Aunt Wang and Uncle Liu, you are all here?” Zu Jin called out with a smile.

These people were all of Zu Hua’s old mahjong friends. If someone didn’t come one day, they wouldn’t have any fun.

Every time Zu Jin came to visit Zu Hua, it was your speech, my dialect1 until Zu Jin was so annoyed and upset.

That’s why Zu Jin basically chose to come over very late at night later on.

But this time, her mahjong friends quickly stood up and left.

Zu Jin: “…”

And Zu Hua was still sitting at the mahjong table and watching them without moving.

Yan Lin seemed to be a little startled by the strange atmosphere, and he was silent for two or three seconds before making a sound.

“Hello aunt, my name is Yan Lin. I brought you some gifts today, I hope you like it.”

As he spoke, he walked over with the gift. He probably wanted to put it on the mahjong table next to Zu Hua, but halfway through it, he realized that it was not appropriate. Thus, he turned around and walked to the coffee table to put the gift down.

Zu Hua finally spoke, “You are planning to get married? What do you do?”

Yan Lin opened his mouth to answer, but Zu Jin walked over and grabbed his arm. She made him sit down on the sofa with her.

“Aunt, I work in investing.”

“Haha, those who deceive women on TV are all investors in finance!”

Zu Jin was facing Yan Lin. She didn’t want to argue with her, so she put on a fake smile and said “mother”.

After that, she changed the subject and said, “Why don’t you see what gifts your son-in-law gave you?”

“I don’t care!” Zu Hua scowled and looked at Yan Lin with cold eyes. “Take it back when you leave. You will leave after a while. Why should I trouble myself with returning it later?!”

The corner of Zu Jin’s mouth twitched. “Are you just going to pour cold water over me?”

Zu Hua slapped the mahjong table. She abruptly stood up, and said in exasperation, “What? When did I hurt you? I told you not to let your imagination run wild and find this kind of man without a job. Otherwise, the one who will suffer in the end is you. I can’t even say for sure if you have been completely deceived for the money you have earned over the years. It turns out you are doing fine and have brought someone back. Aren’t you deliberately trying to anger me?!”

Zu Jin took a deep breath, and then stood up too.

“We will sign a prenuptial agreement, and we will have separate finances after marriage. Can you calm down now?”

Zu Hua frowned and gave a sideways glance. It took a while before she replied, “Since you have clearly figured it out, then do whatever you want. I, as your mother, can’t control you anyway. You can leave. Go, go!”

After she said that, she walked to the door and put on an attitude of chasing them away.

Zu Jin picked up the bag and went straight through the door. When she had walked to the stairs, she realized that Yan Lin was in front of Zu Hua and seemed to be trying to explain something.

She coldly called out, “Yan Lin, let’s go!”

Yan Lin ignored her. “Aunt, it was too presumptuous of us today. I’m sorry, I will visit you again another day.”

He walked out after he finished speaking. ?????? ???? ?? ?????????.???

As soon as his foot went out, Zu Hua slammed the door shut from behind.

This was the third floor and it did not have an elevator. Even though Zu Jin couldn’t wait to immediately disappear from this place, she still had to go down each flight of stairs with high heels.

Yan Lin followed behind her closely. When they were downstairs, he took the lead in opening the front passenger door for Zu Jin.

Zu Jin’s originally righteous face was extremely black, but she was suddenly amused by Yan Lin’s quick actions at this moment.

After they got in the car, Zu Jin said, “Don’t worry, my mother is just like that. You don’t need to take it to heart.”

Yan Lin looked at her dumbfounded. “Are you not angry?”

“I was angry a moment ago, but now I am not angry right now.”

The car drove out of the community gate, and Zu Jin lowered the window to let the cool breeze in.

“It looks like it will be autumn soon.”

“Mhm, autumn will begin in a few days.” ?????? ???? ?? ?????????.???

The sycamore trees on both sides of the road started to turn yellow, which finally stained this old-fashioned street with some bright colors.

“I don’t know why, but every time I see my mother, we basically fight.”

“You both communicate too little.”

Zu Jin asked back, “Your parents are at least willing to maintain peace on the surface, but if they communicate more, will they open up to you and repent on the things that have hurt you?”

“…”

Zu Jin scoffed when she saw that he didn’t say anymore, and fell silent.

But Yan Lin turned around and looked at her. “I know I can’t comfort you, but I think there are very few parents in this world who are perfect. They have hurt us, so we can only do our best for our child in the future and avoid repeating it again. Also, you have found a husband like me who maintains the same attitude and mutual understanding about marriage with you. I think our family will have a very good life in the future.”
