Chapter 13 – Spending the Night Together Part 2

Zu Jin had a look of shame when he laughed, so she pinched him. Then, she took his hand and dragged him to the living room to sit down.

She found a vase and put the yellow roses in it.

Afterwards, she went back to the entryway to bring the plastic bag over.

Yan Lin saw that she was going to open it, so he stood up and went over to help. “There are frozen shrimps and some vegetables in there. They need to be put in the refrigerator.”

“What did you buy them for?”

Zu Jin asked knowingly and teased him as she watched him quickly unpack things.

Yan Lin replied, “I was afraid your refrigerator was empty, so I just bought them in advance to make you breakfast tomorrow.”

Didn’t that mean he’s staying tonight?

Zu Jin heard a loud cry, and immediately could not help but want to pounce on him.

Her heart was screaming crazily!

How did I, Zu Jin, find such a tall, handsome, gentle and virtuous husband?!

Oh, no, ahem. He’s just my boyfriend right now…

While Yan Lin was unpacking everything into the refrigerator, Zu Jin’s restless nerves finally calmed down.

She set up the projector screen in the living room and opened a bottle of red wine. She poured a glass and sat on the sofa to obediently wait for Yan Lin to come.

When Yan Lin arrived at the living room, he saw that Zu Jin was clearly staring at the screen, but her cheeks and ears had secretly turned red like a pair of monkeys and horses that could not cover its heart and mind1.

He went over and wrapped his arms around her into a hug, cuddling each other.

“What movie do you want to see?”

Zu Jin replied, “Is comedy okay?”

“Yes.”

In the end, they were only quiet for less than half a minute when Zu Jin could not help but make a sound again.

“When I called you just now, you didn’t seem happy?” she asked, looking up at Yan Lin.

Yan Lin was silent for a moment and then replied, “For so many years, I have been used to meeting people who break their promises and lose their credibility. But falling in love is not the same as doing business. I treat you seriously and sincerely, and I hope you can treat me in the same way. So when I didn’t hear anything from you these past few days, I thought you must have forgotten what we had discussed the other day.”

This time, Zu Jin choked on her words and could not get it out.

From Yan Lin’s tone, she heard a touch of dissatisfaction and a trace of grievance…

This was not really like what Yan Lin would usually say.

However, Yan Lin had told the truth, and she was more sure of an important guess in her mind.

That was, Yan Lin hated dishonest and untrustworthy people very much.

It seemed that she really didn’t do very well this time.

"
"
“I…I was wrong. No matter how busy I am at work, I should have taken the time to get in touch with you every day.”

Yan Lin suddenly shook his head. “It’s not because of this, you still don’t understand.”

“Huh?”

“Do you know what I like about you?” Yan Lin rubbed her head.

Zu Jin looked at him and asked blankly, “Yes, what do you like about me?”

“I like your honesty and straightforwardness. What attracted me the most at first was your personality, your passionate feelings, and your sense of reason.”

Zu Jin thought she would be happy if he praised her.

But somehow, she couldn’t laugh after hearing it.

If she had not suffered so much, who would have wanted her to be like that?

She felt that if she was born in an ordinary family, with parents that did not have any skills and could even quarrel from time to time, she could go home, take a break, and catch her breath no matter how much she suffered outside.

But there were so many ifs in life. She had never had the chance to make a mistake, and there was no harbor for her to take shelter under, so she must be rational.

Therefore, it might also be that when she saw the gentle and beautiful Yan Lin for the first, she intentionally wanted to get close to him.

She really wanted to have a real home.

But what was that saying?

There were so many harbors to take shelter under this world. If you wanted to take shelter from the wind, others would also want to take shelter from the wind, and the shelter would probably fall apart in the end.

Therefore, Yan Lin probably meant the same thing.

“So what you mean is…”

Yan Lin hugged her tighter and didn’t let her finish.

“What I mean is, every time you go on a business trip in the future, you don’t have to call me every day when you are busy. However, you must buy me a gift when you come back, no matter how valuable it is. I’m making a rule to keep you in check so that you can understand that you chased me and already got me, so everything will be alright, you know?”

When Zu Jin saw that he had made his words clear, she immediately felt a lot of relief.

“I see, don’t worry!”

Yan Lin shook his head helplessly. “I think you may ask your secretary to secretly help you prepare.”

Zu Jin chuckled. “How is that possible! When that moment comes, you can ask her yourself. Don’t worry, I won’t lie to you!”

At this point, Zu Jin suddenly remembered the things they had discussed previously.

“By the way, when are we going to meet your parents? I can make time  for it. Also, what type of gifts should I prepare to meet your parents? What do they like?”

Unexpectedly, Yan Lin looked down at her but did not say a word.

Zu Jin curiously touched his face. “What’s the matter?”

“Let’s talk about that some other time. It’s too late today.”

“Huh?”

Zu Jin’s voice did not end yet, when in the next second, she was suddenly lifted up into a princess carry.
