Chapter 19 – The Hot Pot That Keeps Inverting Part 1

Zu Jin left work before it got dark.

But when she returned home, Yan Lin was not there.

She didn’t turn the lights on and slowly felt around as she walked to the sofa to sit down. Then, she just sat there motionless. ᑭᒪEᗩᔕE ᖇEᗩᗪ ᗩT ᖴO᙭ᗩᕼOᒪIᑕ.ᑕOᗰ

There were too many things that had happened these days, both good and bad. It made her extremely happy and sad at the same time.

She still behaved like nothing had happened in front of her employees while she was working during the day.

But it seemed that life was like this. When there was joy, there was sorrow.

Yan Lin was here, but simultaneously, Ji Desheng, a man who used to be like a father and respectable figure to her, was drifting away from her.

Zu Jin was not a person who was dissatisfied with what she had, but she felt like she was lost when she faced such an important turning point in her life.

Suddenly, there was a beep from the entrance and the door opened.

Yan Lin changed into his slippers and walked in. He seemed startled when he saw her on the sofa.

“Huh? Why are you sitting there without turning the lights on?

“I was waiting for you. Why did you just come back?”

Yan Lin shook the bag in his hand at her. “I went out to meet a few people, and then went to the store to buy ingredients.”

After speaking, he went to the kitchen to put the bag down. After, he came out after washing his hands.

He sat down next to her and took her into his arms as he lightly patted her on the shoulder.

“It looks like you’re in a bad mood. Do you want to tell me about it?”

Zu Jin was silent for a while before she said, “I’m in a little bit of trouble.”

“What’s the trouble?”

Zu Jin hesitated, but then she thought her hesitation was a bit ridiculous.

This was because she was in a business partnership with Yan Lin before they became husband and wife.

At this moment, it was very likely that the board of directors was going to undergo major changes, and she would be affected by it. When those changes come, the project they were cooperating on might also be affected.

Should she tell Yan Lin about it right now?

If she said it, it would make her, the president, seem a bit incompetent.

“It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to say it,” Yan Lin comforted her in a low voice.

Zu Jin sighed, then sat up straight.

She briefly told Yan Lin about the things Ji Shiyu did during the last business trip, the actions of the board of directors these days, and Ji Desheng’s indecisive attitude. She said one thing after another to Yan Lin.

Afterwards, she raised her chin, her expression full of arrogance.

“You don’t have to comfort me anymore, I just want to say what was on my mind.”

Yan Lin and her were so close that their breaths almost merged together.

He raised his eyebrows with a low chuckle. “I see. Then I want to ask you, President Jin, will there be any problems with the projects we are cooperating in?”

“As long as I am still there, there won’t be any problems.”

“Then I can be rest assured.” Yan Lin solemnly nodded.

They sat on the sofa for a while, and then they went to the kitchen to prepare dinner together.

But as soon as they got up, Zu Jin’s cell phone rang.

She picked it up and it was actually Liu Wei calling.

“Hey, are you off work?”

“I am. Why?”

Liu Wei laughed and explained, “My husband heard that you are married, and found a man who is willing to be a full-time husband. He really wants to meet him. Do you want to come? If you come, then we’ll book a place.”

“Why? Did you tell him?”

Zu Jin was referring to Yan Lin’s true identity.

Liu Wei mocked, “I will definitely not tell him! He’s the one who insisted on having a meal. Isn’t he doing it just to see your husband as a joke? I’m waiting for him to be slapped in the face!”

When Liu Wei said this, Zu Jin couldn’t help but think of Liu Wei’s dismissive and arrogant husband. She imagined him putting his tail up to be cocky in front of Yan Lin. It would be a very funny scene.

“Okay, you decide on a place. See you later.”

Zu Jin hung up the phone and went to the kitchen to tell Yan Lin about it.

Yan Lin said, “It just so happens that my friend will be having a dinner tomorrow night. Let’s meet together.”

“Okay, then I have to dress up.” ᑭᒪEᗩᔕE ᖇEᗩᗪ ᗩT ᖴO᙭ᗩᕼOᒪIᑕ.ᑕOᗰ

They went upstairs to change their clothes, and then headed out.

They followed the address given by Liu Wei, and they arrived at a hot pot restaurant.

It was late at night, but there were a lot of people. Liu Wei’s son, Bubu, rushed over and took her hand before she could even take two steps after entering.

“Auntie!”

Zu Jin picked up the child, and almost lost her balance from his weight.

“Baby, you are really growing.”

The child shly hugged Zu Jin’s neck, acting sweet and babyish like he was in love.

They went to the second floor, which seemed to have fewer guests. It was quieter than the floor below.

Liu Wei and her husband, Jiang Kai, saw them coming and immediately stood up with a smile.

After they greeted each other and shook hands, everyone quickly sat down.

Jiang Kai said, “I don’t know if Brother Yan can eat spicy food. Us and Zu Jin like it anyway, so we ordered a mandarin duck pot1.”

Yan Lin smiled. “I can eat a little bit.”

“Hey, Zu Jin, you two are so fast. Ha. I remember the last time we ate together, it was at the beginning of last month, right? That day, I said that I would have another with Liu Wei for you to adopt. But you ended up marrying a few days ago. What is this?!”

Zu Jin proudly said, “If you fall for someone, then that’s it. If you have to ink2 someone for three to five years, is it fun?”
