Epilogue
Harvin's POV
I was ten years old when I first came here to Suredale. It was a month before my birthday. I didn't have any clue why we moved here but I never really had the courage to ask eomma and appa. I just thought there were things that needed to be fixed here that we needed to move away from South Korea.
It was a fine summer day when my parents decided to stroll the city of Suredale. I wasn't a hard-headed kid, with a smile and excited jumps I made they knew that I love their plans for today.
"Harvin-ah, don't be too excited you might spoil the fun, my son." Appa said while he ruffled my hair.
I laughed whenever Appa would tell me one of his jokes. Eomma will only hiss at Appa as she told him that it isn't good for me to keep on laughing non stoply. Eomma believed that extreme happiness has an equivalent counterpoint.
It didn't take us long before we reached the famous small hill of Suredale. Eomma was the first one to get out of the car, I only followed her. She was baffled from the sight that welcomed us. It was indeed beautiful. Gazing at the small hill from here is a sight of greenery that spreads around it. Atop the hill, there stood a tree with its prosperous leaves and branches. It was magnificent.
I was put out on my train of thought when I found myself standing near a girl. She looked cute and petite in her white dress and short hair. As I followed where she was glancing, I found a happy family that were having their picnic. And so I thought, is this girl lost? But as soon as I saw her smiles, I knew that she's part of that family. A daughter who loves to see her family all smiles while lovingly looking at them from afar.
"Why are you alone here? Are you lost?" I blurted out the words I already knew the answer to.
She slowly turned around with furrowed brows. Looking at her from a front view made me compliment her in my mind. She looks eight but it didn't hide the beauty and cuteness she possessed.
"I am not alone. Sino naman nagsabi sa 'yo no'n?"
This time it was me who had furrowed brows. I only understood the first sentence she uttered. It made me frustrated that I didn't catch up on what she said afterwards. In the end, I admitted that I couldn't understand her and that it was a relief that she's not lost.
A butterfly came fluttering between our distance which caught her attention. I don't know what's gotten into me that I chose to stand there quietly while watching her reactions. I didn't realize that I followed her in these vast flower fields. A variety of colorful flowers greeted us and made us awestruck. The moment my eyes landed on a red rose, I didn't hesitate to pick it. Looking at it in my hand makes me think of her.
"Wow. It's so beautiful!" I smiled when I heard her complimenting the place multiple times now.
"It is. And of course, you too." I innocently replied. It startled her and made her jump in fear.
"Were you following me? Are you a bad guy?"
It saddened me to hear that she had thought of me that way. But if I put myself into her shoes, I would clearly think the same way. A boy like me who she barely knows is somewhat stalking her.
But I am not what she thinks. Harvin's a good and charming boy.
I closed my eyes while I slowly put the flower in front of my nose. It was really my way of buying time to muster the courage of facing her again.
"Does this handsome boy look evil to you?" I muttered while giving her a genuine smile.
She was appalled. Later on she asked me to stop following her. I agreed but after I gave her the flower. My heart couldn't contain its happiness when she accepted it. I didn't waste any second of asking her name but she never gave me an answer. All I can say is that her parents raised her well by not talking too much to strangers.
