" It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero. "

"Keira. What happened yesterday?" James asked. Keira was in his dorm's bathroom, just having brushed her teeth. The other boys were at breakfast so the room was just to them. She looked at him stood in the doorway through the mirror in front of her.

"What do you mean?" She asked, fiddling with the sleeve of James' jumper she wore.

"I know something happened between you and your friends yesterday. Why won't you just tell me?" James looked at her with sort of a hopeless look in his eyes.

Keira turned around, "I had a fight with Lily." She sighed, his eyes softened, but he was confused, "She just started saying how it's good you're dating me because them you'll become mature and stop being childish, she mentioned Sirius as well. I just got mad, I started saying how she has no room to make any judgements on you and Sirius because she's only just now started being somewhat nice to you. She got pissed that I said that and told me to sod off, so I did."

Keira looked at James for a second, "I know, it's dumb but it just got me all annoyed, I get protective over people I love and care about and hearing her call you and Sirius childish just rubbed me the wrong way and got me all frustrated."

"It's not dumb." James said as he walked over to her.

"I should've told you I just... I wanted to forget it happened, I feel like I made it worse than it could've been. I dunno, I just sometimes I do things the completely wrong way. I feel like an anti-hero sometimes." James pulled her in a hug.

"You're perfect, Keira. Stop putting yourself down so much." James said comfortingly, his hand rubbing up and down on her back. She nodded, not being able to speak over the lump in her throat.

. . .

The following 4 days were nothing but awkward. Keira and Lily hadn't spoken to each other, the group stayed as undivided as possible, trying to ignore the elephant in the room which was the two girls' fight.

The only other person who hadn't spoken to Lily yet was Josie; one of Josies' traits that makes her such a good friend is her loyalty. She's not someone who takes a back seat when one of her best friends is in trouble, she'll fight for the people she loves fiercely.

"When are you and Lily going to make up?" Marlene asked Keira during their usual shifts in the Hospital Wing.

Keira sighed as she cleaned a cauldron in the large sink as Marlene dried the ones Keira had already washed, "I don't know, it's awkward."

"Well, if it makes it easier and hopefully speeds up the process of you two forgiving each other; I was talking to Lily yesterday and she was saying that she feels bad and wants to move past it." Keira turned to look at Marlene, a quizzical look on her face.

"Did she really say that?"

"I wouldn't lie to you Keira." Marlene said with a straight face, showing her seriousness.

She turned back around to continue scrubbing the cauldron, "I just don't know how to approach her."

"Just ask her at the end of dinner." Marlene shrugged.

Their shift ended about an hour later, the two girls doing their usual gossip while they walked down to the Great Hall for dinner. Keira's heart was pounding in her chest - she was incredibly nervous to have a conversation with Lily, what if they didn't make up and things get worse? What if Lily suddenly decides she hates her?

Keira's worried thoughts soon stopped when she sat in between James and Peter at Gryffindor's table. Throughout dinner, Keira was planning and rehearsing what she was going to say to Lily to make the situation the least awkward it can be. But, she was inevitably interrupted by James and Peter's usual banter that she was sat in between of.

Eventually, dinner ended and the group started to make their way outside where they usually sat when the weather was warmer. Before Keira could look for Lily, she had already been approached by her, "Hey Keira. Could I talk to you for a sec?" Lily had a small but awkward smile which Keira matched.

"Yeah, sure." The two went to walk to other way just after Keira signalled to James that they'd be one minute when he turned around to look for her. They sat on a bench in the courtyard, watching their group as they all left to go down to the field.

"I'm sorry for what happened, I went too far and you're right; I don't know James well enough to judge him especially since you're one of my best friends and you're dating him, it wasn't right for me to talk bad about him." Lily spoke before Keira could, her prepared speech went out the window.

"Thanks Lily. But, I'm sorry too. I sometimes take things too far when defending people and I definitely did the other night, I've been a little stressed on well... everything happening in the world right now and it all just came out like that."

The two sat looking at each other, "Friends?" Lily asked, her eyes glossy, matching Keira's.

"Best friends, Lily." Keira pulled Lily into a tight hug.

Only then did the two girls realise how much they missed each other. Lily missed how protective Keira was of her and how passionate she cared for her. In that moment Lily vowed to herself to never stop being friends with Keira O'Connor because if she did, she'd never have that same amount of fierce love Keira shared with her.

While Lily thought to herself, so did Keira, though it was about herself. Keira made it a rule for herself to always be enough so no one would leave her.
