" when raindrops fell down from the sky, the day you left me, an angel cried. "

Keira had been so occupied by mourning Lily's death that it never fully processed in her head that the war was truly over and Voldemort was dead.

Well, that was until she was called into the Head of Magical Law Enforcement's office a couple weeks after going back to work from her time off following Halloween. By now, it was December.

"Myself and other higher up authorities in the Ministry have been discussing your involvement in fighting in the war," Her boss started, Keira sat opposite him very nervous; in that moment she was worried that they'd accuse her of doing something wrong and would lock her up in Azkaban, "We've all come to the conclusion that we should be utilising your skills more, which is why I am offering you a promotion to be the Head of Foreign Affairs. I'm sure you know that we've been sort of scrambling for people to fill newly vacant spots due to the war and I can't think of anyone else who is better for the job than you."

A wide smile grew on Keira's face, all her hard work was starting to be truly recognised now. "I'd be honoured to accept, Sir. Thank you." She accepted happily.

"That's good to hear, my assistant will help you settle in and I will be in touch soon."

Keira nodded enthusiastically as her boss' assistant opened the door for her, Keira shook his hand before walking towards the door.

"Miss O'Connor?" Her boss spoke up, Keira spinning around quickly.

"Yes, Sir?"

"We're counting on you to get your department back in order." He looked up at her through his glasses.

Keira stood confidently with a big smile, "I will." She said before leaving the office and following the assistant to her new office.

On the door was a gold sign with engraved writing;

Head of Foreign Affairs

Miss Keira O'Connor

. . .

Soon enough, Christmas had rolled around and Potter Manor was filled with friends and family; Sirius, Remus, Mary, Josie, Oliver, Luca, Paige, Christopher, Julia, and Josie's parents. The long tradition of the Summers and O'Connor families having Christmas at the latters' house was put on pause this year as a plague of loneliness had spread across the group of young adults and the one day you never want to feel lonely on is Christmas, so, James and Keira decided to host with all their friends and family.

Despite recent events, everyone had found a way to be joyous for the whole day. For some, that included a lot of drinking to let off steam and relax, but for others, being truly carefree wasn't possible.

Mary was the quietest of the group, everyone knew that the two deaths of her closest friends had hit her hard, but everyone thought that it would get better for her, but it seemingly wasn't. People tried their best to show support, but it isn't easy when you're also grieving.

It was that day that Josie and Oliver told everyone that they were a couple, which was closely followed by a chorus of 'What?!'s. The only person who was expecting the announcement to come was Keira, however, later on in the evening, neither Keira or anyone else was expecting the announcement from Luca and Paige that they were expecting a baby.

Even more celebrations followed and more and more bottles of wine and prosecco were opened and by the end of the night, everyone went home either drunk or very tipsy, apart from Sirius and Remus who were staying the night.
