" Well, I've been afraid of changing, 'cause I've built my life around you. "

Something that Keira never seemed to be comfortable with in life is change. She took her time getting comfortable in phases of her life and she often found that the moment she became content with said phase, it was already changing.

However, she found that dread of change had become much bigger and had morphed into a fear. She was happy with how her life was; good friends, she was close with her family, school was going smoothly, and she had James. The last one was probably the most feared one of being hit by the speeding bus of change.

Because of this fear of change, she liked to feel prepared, she liked to know what her life was going to be like in a year or two, so Keira had always tried to do whatever she could to have as much control over her life as she could. She found that the best way to do that at her age was to control her results in school. If she did well in school she would have broad choices in her future career, so she wouldn't be pushed into a job because her options are limited.

So, there Keira was in the Library, once again, studying her textbooks intensely with motivation that anyone looking at her could feel emanating off of her.

"You guys want a short break?" Remus put his quill down, leaning back in his chair.

"Definitely. How about we go to the kitchens and get hot chocolate?" Lily smiled, also putting her quill down. The two looked at Keira who was still deep in concentration as she scribbled on her piece of parchment.

"Keira?" Remus asked.

"Hmm?" She hummed, not looking up from her work.

"We're going to go to the kitchens for a hot chocolate." Remus said, him and Lily sharing a look.

"Oh, well I'm pretty deep in my work right now, I don't want to loose my concentration." She tore her eyes up from her paper to decline the offer.

"Okay, we'll be back soon." Lily said as she and Remus stood up from their chairs they sat on at the shared table they sat opposite from each other on.

Keira nodded as she quickly went back to writing. The two Gryffindors didn't speak until they got out of the Library, mainly because Madame Pince would loudly shush them and give a glare if they spoke near her.

"Have you noticed how intense Keira's been about school recently?" Lily asked, she only asked because on one else had discussed it with her and she had some doubt that she was the only one noticing this.

Remus nodded, "Oh yeah, definitely."

"Oh thank Merlin, I thought I was the only one!" Lily sighed, Remus chuckled at her as they turned a corner, walking down the stairs leading to the kitchen's corridor.

"Between us; I'm a bit concerned, I mean, she just seems like it's the only thing she sees."

"Did something happen?" Lily asked. Lily and Remus weren't huge gossipers, but once in a while they did have a gossip session to keep each other caught up on everything going on that they know about.

Their conversation was quickly interrupted by entering the kitchen and asking one of the House Elves to get then two hot chocolates, both with cream and marshmallows. Soon, they were made and the two were slowly walking back to the Library, taking a long detour because they knew Madame Pince wouldn't let their drinks near the Library.

Remus knew better than to tell someone about one of his best friend's personal business, but in his mind, this was different; he was genuinely concerned for Keira, and Lily had asked so he didn't see any big problem with telling Lily about Keira and James' problems.
