'Dear Miss Keira O'Connor,

I am writing to you to offer you a job within the Foreign Affairs Department as Head-Assistant. As you were our second choice, we would be more than happy to welcome you back to the Foreign Affairs Department.

Please get back to us about your decision ASAP.

Sincerely, Head of Foreign Affairs.'

"Are you fucking joking?!" Keira scoffed, chucking the letter on the kitchen counter as she took a sip of her coffee.

"What?" Henry asked, confused as he sat at the kitchen table with Josie.

"The nerve they have to expect that I would accept their offer! Stupid tossers are probably shitting themselves because they realised they made a huge fucking mistake hiring Sterling." Keira ranted, waving the mug of coffee in her hand.

"Yeah but, are you not happy? This means you can have the job you wanted." Josie said as Bradley gently took the mug out of Keira's hand, worried she'd throw her coffee all over the kitchen.

"Yes, I'm happy that they got their head out of their arses, but I'm not taking it." Keira crossed her arms, leaning her hip against the counter.

"You're not?" Bradley asked.

Keira shook her head, "No. I'm not going back there, the same thing will happen at the next opportunity for a promotion and I'll get nowhere. This," Keira held the letter up, "Only happened because Jason Sterling was shit at his job. They aren't going to make that mistake and instead, they'll give the job to a slightly more experienced nepotism baby."

The conversation was quickly changed and wasn't brought up again until Josie and Henry left that afternoon. Keira stood at the sink, washing the dirty plates and cups they group of four had their lunch on, the soft hum of jazz music playing in the background.

Bradley came in, putting a small stack of glasses next to the sink, kissing Keira's cheek as he did so. His eyes swept over the letter from the Ministry that sat on the counter, just where Keira had put it down hours ago. He didn't necessarily agree with Keira's decision, he thought she was perfect for the job and is more than good enough to get to where she wanted to get to.

He was also worried for her; if she didn't pursue this then what was she going to do? Keira had never shown any interest in any other career and hadn't mentioned her doing anything else.

"So you're seriously not going to accept?" Bradley asked.

"I'm not." Keira answered, "What?" She asked, turning around seeing how Bradley nodded at her response, clearly something on his mind.

"I don't know... I'm just worried that you're going to regret this decision. Do you not think you should sit on it for a couple more days?"

"Well, they said to get back to them ASAP." Keira wiped her hands dry with the tea towel as she leaned her back against the counter, facing Bradley.

"They can survive a couple days." He reasoned with her.

"Bradley, I know what I'm doing. I'm only 21, I don't need to have my who life figured out right now."

"I know I-"

"No, I used to be that girl, always working for something. But... I don't want to be that right now, I like that for once I can just relax and not constantly put pressure on myself to be better and work harder. I don't know what I'm going to do, but I will work it out." Keira interrupted him.
