" Nevermind, I'll find someone like you. I wish nothing but the best for you. "

It had been months since the wedding, the leaves had fallen from their trees and was replaced by a sheet of frost. Despite realising how much she missed her friends, Keira hadn't spoken to them much after. Again, telling them she was busy with work and she'd see them at the Order meetings that took place every two weeks.

Keira had stayed away from Lily and James at those meetings. After the wedding when she broke down crying, she realised how she'd never felt such pain like that before and the only way she knew how to avoid it was to stop seeing James and Lily as much as possible.

James was a bit confused by the 180 Keira did, he thought they were reconnecting with each other, but then she seemed to have been more distant than ever. He wanted to ask her why she was being that way, but didn't, something told him that he'd get an answer that he really didn't want to hear.

Trying to fill the void that was James, Keira socialised with her co-workers more, she tried making new friends that weren't people she knew from Hogwarts. She wanted a fresh start; someone who didn't know about her relationship with James, someone who didn't know the rumours that went around the school about her OD. Someone who would only know her for who she truly is, not what other people said about her.

"O'Connor," Keira looked up from her desk, "How about we get lunch today, on me?" Bradley Andrews, an Auror who transferred from working in the USA's Magical Congress just a couple months ago, stood beside her desk, leaning on it with one of his hands.

"Yeah, sure." Keira smiled. Her and Bradley had become close since he joined, they met since she was given the job of showing him around the department and since then, they'd developed a friendship. They often went to lunch together and would walk around London, admiring the Christmas decorations as she showed him around. Sometimes they'd go on longer walks after work, Bradley saying he wanted to get to know the city better - understandable since he was from America and had never been to London before.

Bradley winked before he walked away, probably to where the Auror department was, but soon enough, Keira lunch break came around and Bradley was seen waiting for her in her desk chair.

"Finally, I've been waiting here for ten minutes." Bradley teased with a big grin as he tossed an elastic band ball up and down.

"Oh my bad, I was just in a casual head-of-department meeting, nothing that important." Keira joked as Bradley got up, helping her put on her jacket that was hung on the back of her chair he was sat on.

"So how is your training going?" Keira asked. Bradley was one of the Auror department's trainers, he had a small group of trainees he was teaching.

"Actually, pretty well," He spoke in his New York accent, "They're fucking terrified of Mad-Eye whenever he comes in for two minutes, so I think they're pretty thrilled to have me instead of him teaching them," Keira laughed as they walked through the busy lobby of the Ministry, "To be fair that guy is intense." Bradley said as they stepped into one of the phonebooths, taking them up to muggle London.

"Really? I think he's pretty cool." Keira shrugged.

Bradley looked at her confused as they stepped out of the phonebooth, "I never knew you know Moody."

"Just personal connections." Keira shrugged, obviously not telling him how she really knows him, which would be because of The Order.

For lunch, they got a burrito at their usual food truck they got to, walking around Whitehall, London as they talked to each other. The two had a pretty flirty relationship and to any outside lookers, they would think there was something going on between the two, and maybe there was, but Keira wasn't acting on it yet, she wasn't ready. But, she knew that if Bradley did, she probably wouldn't reject him.

"What're you doing for Christmas?" Keira asked, burying her hands deep in her coat pockets.

"Dunno really, probably just hang out in my apartment, might go to a bar." Bradley shrugged.

"You're not going to New York to see family?"

Bradley laughed, "No chance, I haven't had a Christmas with them for years."

"Oh, sorry." Keira gave him a sympathetic smile, feeling bad that she brought it up.

"Nah, don't be." He shook his head.

"How about you come to mine, then? It's just at my parents house with my brothers and my best friend with her parents." Keira suggested, smiling up at him hopefully.

"You don't have to do that-"

"I can't let you spend Christmas on your own, Brad. Anyway, it's nothing fancy, just hanging out, eating a lot, and getting tipsy," Bradley laughed, "If you're lucky, you might get invited to go down to the beach with me, my brothers, and best friend."

"If your parents are alright with it, then I'd love to come." Bradley smiled at her.

"Oh it will, they love hosting." Keira gave him a big smile.

Bradley smiled as he hung his arm over Keira's shoulders as they made their way back to the phone booth. Then, walking her back to her desk where he said goodbye and a 'see you later'.

(A/N; happy christmas eve everyone!!)
