" And if the sky falls from heaven above, oh, I know, I had the best time falling into love. "

It was April. The flowers had bloomed, the sun was coming back, and the trees' leaves had started budding. The air was fresh from new life, but the world did not feel the same. It felt polluted with death and fear, bad news covered the news papers like a blanket that no one could take off.

"4 more deaths." Remus sighed, putting the Daily Prophet down at breakfast. Voldemort was gaining more followers by the day and deaths were increasing uncontrollably. Keira realised in the time that the worst feeling was not being able to do anything, what could a teenager do compared to an army of well experienced wizards who would not think twice about killing her?

"Why isn't the Ministry doing anything?" Mary scoffed annoyed. The whole group took the war seriously, but as Muggleborns, Lily and Mary took news of deaths harder than the rest because they were the main target.

"The place is corrupt. Jenkins clearly isn't able to manage a conflict to this size and id getting anyone she can to help, even if they too have no clue what they're doing." Keira said sadly. Mary sighed annoyed at the facts.

"What about Dumbledore?" James asked.

"What about him?" Lily asked confused.

"Well, he's supposed to be the most powerful wizard, why isn't he doing anything?" The group turned their heads to look at the headmaster sat at the teacher's table, eating breakfast.

"We don't know if he isn't. He's a mysterious guy, for all we know he's got some secret society that no one but them know about." Keira shrugged, the group nodding in agreement.

"I say we just get a muggle gun from a shop and shoot Voldemort right in the forehead." Sirius said, leaning over Peter to grab more bacon from the platter.

"It's not a bad idea." Peter shrugged.

"Yeah, take him out with a creation made by the people he hates most. It would be pretty ironic." Marlene said, Sirius high fiving her enthusiastically.

"It would also be pretty illegal, but nothing Voldemort is doing is legal anyway." Lily said.

"Fight crime with crime I guess." Remus said, buttering his slice of toast.

. . .

James and Keira parted from the group later that day to go a date that consisted of sitting by their usual tree with napkins full of food that they had snagged from the Great Hall at the start of lunch.

The weather had gotten warm enough that they could comfortably wear jeans and a top without getting cold. So, they sat with their backs against the tree looking onto the same view they see regularly of the Black Lake, a messy picnic set out in front of them as they chatted about whatever topic sprang into their minds.

"You look worried, Kir." James look down at his girlfriend who had a subtle frown on her face and a slight furrow in her eyebrows.

"I'm not." She shook her head, speaking softly.

"Yeah you are, you have that look on you face," She sighed, knowing he won't give it up until she tells him, "What's going on?"

Keira sat up straighter, James' arm still around her shoulders though, "I don't know, I'm just getting a bit stress and worried for... well I don't know, I'm worried about myself, you, our friends, the world I guess." She vented.

"Why?"

"The war, James. I don't usually worry about my future that much, I know as long as I work hard in the present then everything in my future will work out, but I am now."

"You're not going to die, Kir." James reassured her, his hand rubbing her upper arm.

"What if you do? Or Josie or any of our friends, what if someone in my family or yours dies? What do we do then?" Keira looked up at James.

"I don't know... But, if something were to happen I'd be there for you, even if you somehow hate me I'll still be there. And if I have it my way, I'll be yours forever and we'll never be alone." James spoke softly, with love and affection. His promises made Keira's heart flutter. James had a way of making Keira feel like the most special person in the world because of his big heart and the love he gives her, he loves her everyday like it will be his last day to.

However, Keira still had a pit of worry in her stomach, it may not be as big but somehow it had gotten deeper. Now she felt she had more responsibility to do something, to help, to protect. She'd be damned if any of her loved ones get hurt or killed in this war.

(A/N: this one is a bit shorter, but this is  just a bit of a filler chapter.)
