THE AIR IN the room felt charged with unspoken tension as if every passing moment only added to the weight of our thoughts and emotions. The silence enveloped us, creating an atmosphere that seemed to thicken with each passing second. Just as the weight of the silence became almost unbearable, a sudden, sharp knock on the door shattered the stillness, causing us both to jump in surprise.

Reacting swiftly, I stood up from the bed, my curiosity piqued and my heart racing with anticipation. I made my way toward the door, feeling a mix of apprehension and excitement. As I opened the door, I found myself face to face with a teacher-a middle-aged woman whose stern expression commanded respect and authority.

"We are hosting a class game in ten minutes, so get dressed and be ready," the teacher's voice rang out firmly, leaving no room for negotiation. I nodded in acknowledgment, my respectful nature prompting me to bow politely before gently closing the door.

Turning to Jungwon, I sought confirmation, needing to ensure I hadn't been the only one to hear the teacher's words. "You heard that?" I asked, my voice laced with curiosity, hoping that he too had received the message. He responded with a weary nod, exhaustion etched on his face as he reached for his bag to retrieve his clothes.

Determined not to waste any more time, I mirrored Jungwon's actions, grabbing a carefully chosen outfit from my bag. With a sense of purpose, I entered the bathroom first, eager to transform myself for the upcoming game.

The room was filled with the soft sound of rustling fabric as I swiftly changed my clothes, carefully selecting each piece. I meticulously brushed out my hair, ensuring it fell just the way I wanted, and took a moment to adjust it with a satisfied smile.

A delicate spritz of perfume completed my transformation, adding a subtle touch of allure to my appearance. Before leaving the bathroom, I applied some lipgloss, coating my bottom lip with the clear shiny gloss before spreading it to my upper lip. I looked at the mirror in satisfaction before stepping out of the bathroom.

As I walked out, I noticed Jungwon passing by me, heading toward the same space I had just occupied.

"Gosh, you took long," before he closed the door behind him, temporarily disappearing.

After what felt like an eternity, the door creaked open, and Jungwon emerged, clad in a simple brown hoodie with lettering on it and beige, baggy cargo pants. To my surprise, his outfit mirrored mine perfectly, down to the smallest details. My eyebrows shot up in surprise, mirroring my intrigue at the unexpected resemblance between our attires. His eyes met mine, scanning me from head to toe, his realization mirrored in his expression.

"Change," Jungwon simply stated, his voice tinged with a touch of frustration. I shook my head defiantly, refusing to yield to his suggestion. There was a sense of defiance within me, a refusal to let someone else dictate my choices.

He let out a sigh as if contemplating saying something more, but the moment was abruptly interrupted by a loud buzzer, its piercing sound reverberating through the place. It was the signal for everyone to gather, a reminder that time was ticking away. In unison, our annoyance at the interruption was palpable, and we exchanged glances filled with shared frustration, silently acknowledging the mutual understanding of our discontent.

Despite our differences and the lingering weariness that clung to our bones, we both recognized the significance of the upcoming class game. With a shared determination, we walked out of the room together, ready to face the challenges that awaited us, knowing that we had each other's backs.
