AS WE SAVORED the delicious flavors of the ramen, our conversation deepened, delving into more personal topics. Jungwon shared stories from his childhood, recounting his mischievous adventures with a mischievous grin on his face. I found myself laughing at his anecdotes, realizing that beneath his cool exterior, there was a playful and charismatic side to him.
I, too, opened up about my own experiences, sharing tales of embarrassing moments and hidden passions. Jungwon listened intently, his eyes glued to mine, absorbing every detail of my words. There was a warmth in his gaze that I couldn't ignore as if he genuinely cared about what I had to say.
But amidst our shared laughter and growing connection, there were occasional moments of teasing and light banter. We would exchange playful jabs and sarcastic remarks, keeping each other on our toes. It was evident that we were two individuals who didn't shy away from challenging one another, unafraid to speak our minds.
As we finished our meal, I leaned back in my chair, feeling a sense of satisfaction and contentment washing over me. The room was filled with the remnants of our conversation, the air buzzing with newfound energy. I couldn't help but wonder how we had transitioned from strangers to this moment of shared intimacy.
Jungwon broke the silence, his voice low and filled with a hint of mischief. "You know, I didn't expect today to turn out like this," he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "I thought it would be just another mundane evening."
I smirked, raising an eyebrow. "Oh, so you were expecting it to be boring, huh?" I retorted, playfully challenging him.
He chuckled, leaning forward and resting his elbows on the table. "Well, let's just say you've managed to surprise me," he replied, his voice laced with a mixture of admiration and intrigue.
I couldn't deny the flutter of excitement that surged within me at his words. There was something undeniably magnetic about our dynamic, the way our personalities clashed and intertwined. It was a dance of push and pull, creating an electrifying tension that I couldn't resist.

In her eyes, she struggled to suppress the discomfort gnawing at her stomach after indulging in a meal, but her determination to continue scrolling through her phone while nestled beside Jungwon on the bed pushed her to ignore it. However, with each passing moment, the pain intensified, causing her to let out soft groans and clutch her abdomen in discomfort.
Jungwon, perceptive to her unease, raised an inquisitive eyebrow and gently asked, "Are you okay?"
Stammering slightly, she managed to reply, "Yeah," before a sudden realization sent a jolt of panic through her. Hastily closing the Instagram app, she frantically opened her period tracking application, which revealed that her period was expected to arrive that very day.
Her eyes widened in realization as she quickly shut down the app and rose from the bed. Stealthily reaching into her luggage, she retrieved a pad and made her way to the bathroom, navigating the discomfort with each step. After tending to her needs, she emerged from the bathroom, relieved to find no telltale stains. Nevertheless, a quiet groan escaped her lips as she wearily returned to the bed, slumping down in exhaustion.
Looking up at Jungwon, she mustered the courage to ask, her voice laced with a tinge of discomfort, "Do you happen to have any painkillers?"
Puzzled, Jungwon replied, his tone tinged with confusion, "No, why do you ask?"
With a sigh, she dismissed it casually, trying to divert attention away from her discomfort, and shifted her focus back to her phone.
Unexpectedly, Jungwon spoke up, his voice gentle and understanding, "You have your period, right?" The sudden spotlight on her predicament caused her cheeks to flame with embarrassment.
"H-Huh," she stammered involuntarily, mentally chastising herself for the slip of the tongue.
"I noticed what you grabbed from your suitcase earlier," Jungwon confessed, his intent not to embarrass her but rather to offer understanding. She sighed, attempting to mask her embarrassment.
"Don't be embarrassed; it's okay, it's a normal part of life, isn't it?" Jungwon's reassuring words washed over her, alleviating some of her self-consciousness. Rising from the bed, he made his way to the kitchen, leaving her curiously observing his actions.
Intrigued, she observed as he retrieved a glass and filled it with water, returning to her side with a sheepish smile. Extending the glass to her, he gently stated, "Water is known to provide relief during that time of the month."
Taking a sip from the glass, she couldn't help but inquire, "How do you know all this?"
Jungwon's voice wavered slightly as he explained, "I, um... I learned about it because of my sister." Unbeknownst to her, he had previously researched ways to ease period pain, hoping to be well-prepared for his future girlfriend. In the comfortable silence that enveloped them, she continued to drink the water, appreciating his thoughtfulness.
"I'll be right back," Jungwon announced, slipping into his slides and stepping out of the cottage with purpose.
As she persisted in scrolling through her phone, doing her utmost to distract herself from the persistent pain, Jungwon returned, clutching a pill capsule in his hand.
"Here, the teachers found some painkillers. I told them I had a stomachache, and they gave me the entire packet," Jungwon informed her, extending the pill capsule toward her before refilling the glass in her hand.
Her eyes fixated on him, her cheeks warming with a mix of surprise and gratitude. His unexpected display of kindness left her momentarily stunned, yet a flutter of warmth danced within her. Accepting the refilled glass, she swallowed the pill, feeling a glimmer of relief.
