AS MUCH AS I tried to remain focused, Yuri's distraction proved to be too effective. My grip on the rope loosened and it slipped from my grasp, causing disappointment to wash over me. Despite the setback, I fought to keep a composed front and not show any signs of weakness. I quickly regained my composure and reached for the rope again, determined to make up for my earlier mistake.
With renewed energy, I began to pull the rope with all my might. Suddenly, I yanked the rope with such force that it caused Yuri to stumble and lose her grip on Jungwon's hand. My action effectively separated her from Jungwon, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride wash over me. A triumphant smirk crept onto my face as I continued to pull harder, determined to emerge victorious in this competition.
As the game drew to a close, Jungwon's team had taken the lead and emerged victorious. I watched from the sidelines as Yuri, bubbling over with excitement, sprinted towards Jungwon and threw her arms around him in a congratulatory hug. Even though I felt a surge of conflicting emotions - confusion and anger - I managed to maintain a placid expression and keep my feelings hidden.
As the team dispersed, leaving the field behind, I couldn't shake the sense of unease that lingered within me. There was something about Yuri's actions and her proximity to Jungwon that stirred an unfamiliar emotion deep within me. However, for the time being, I pushed those feelings aside and reminded myself that it was just a game, a moment of competitive intensity. I resolved to focus on the next challenge ahead, determined to let the lingering doubts settle for another time.
As I was lost in my own world, my friends suddenly came by my side. I could feel their presence and turned around to face them. It was Hyein, resting her chin on my shoulder, with a smirk on her face, looking at me teasingly. The other girls surrounded me with smiles, and I could sense that something was up. Hyein spoke up, "We all know what you did there, Juju." Her tone was playful, but I could sense a hint of mischief. "You were jealous, unnie," she cooed with a smile, and the other girls nodded in agreement. I was taken aback by their sudden accusation, and my mind went back to what I had done recently that could have made them feel that way.
"I don't really understand what's going on here," I spoke softly, trying to mask the embarrassment I was feeling. Just moments ago, I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy when I saw Yuri touching Jungwon's hand. It was an unexpected reaction, and now I couldn't shake off the feeling of confusion that was creeping up on me.
Haerin, my mischievous friend, playfully poked my cheek with her slender finger, her soft touch sending a warm sensation through my body. I couldn't help but smile at her adorable cat-like features - her big, luminous eyes, small nose, and cute pink lips. "Stop lying Juju," she said, her voice filled with playful accusation. "We are your best friends," she added, her tone shifting to a more serious note, her eyes glistening with affection. Her words filled me with warmth, and I felt grateful for the bond we shared.
I'm not quite sure what exactly happened earlier," I said, my voice tinged with uncertainty. I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, fidgeting with the hem of my shirt. "Usually, when I see Yuri and Jungwon together, Yuri is always flirting with him. But this time was different. Something about the way they were talking made me feel uneasy, like there was some tension between them that I couldn't quite put my finger on. my skin for some reason." I let out a deep sigh, my hands trembling as I rubbed them against my face, trying to ease the tension that was building up inside me.
