AS THE NIGHT drew to a close, I could feel exhaustion settling in. Jungwon must have noticed my weariness because when our classmates started discussing plans for the next day, he spoke up on my behalf, suggesting that we head back to the cottage to get some rest. "Jurin is tired," he interjected, a hint of playfulness in his voice. "We should head back to the cottage and get some rest." Grateful for his consideration, I nodded in agreement, prompting curious looks from the others. However, Jungwon's response seemed to satisfy their curiosity, and with a chorus of good nights and well-wishes, we made our way back to the cottage, hand in hand.
Inside the cozy haven, I quickly headed to the bathroom to rinse off the remnants of the campfire and change into the comfortable pajamas I had brought along. The warm water cascaded over my skin, washing away the fatigue of the day. As I dried myself off and slipped into my pajamas, I couldn't help but steal a glance at the closed bathroom door, wondering what Jungwon was up to in the kitchen.
With a satisfied sigh, feeling refreshed and ready for a peaceful night's sleep, I stepped out of the bathroom. To my surprise, Jungwon was already waiting for me, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. His teasing tone broke the silence, as he jokingly mentioned how long I took in the bathroom as if I had fallen asleep in there.
Rolling my eyes, I retorted, playing along with the banter, "Just making sure I look presentable for you, Mr. Perfect."
This playful exchange of words was a familiar dance between us, a way to express our affection through teasing and humor. It was a dance we had mastered over time, a testament to the close bond we shared.
As I settled onto the couch, Jungwon disappeared into the bathroom to freshen up himself. I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing in there, and a mischievous thought crossed my mind. Determined to return the teasing favor, I smirked, scheming to make a playful comment when he emerged.
Finally, Jungwon emerged from the bathroom, and I raised an eyebrow, unable to resist the opportunity, "Took you even longer. Were you trying to perfect your hair or something?"
He chuckled, shaking his head, and joined me on the couch. "Nah, just had to make sure I smelled decent in your presence."
I scoffed, playfully shoving his shoulder. "In my presence? Dream on, Romeo."
Our banter continued, creating a comfortable and playful atmosphere around us. It was a dance we had mastered, a language of wit and sarcasm that spoke volumes about our friendship and the depth of our connection.
As the night embraced us, we found solace in each other's company, away from the campfire's crackling flames. The cottage became our sanctuary, a place where our connection thrived and our friendship deepened. And in the midst of our playful exchanges, I couldn't help but notice a subtle shift in Jungwon's demeanor. There was a hint of something more than friendship, barely perceptible but undeniably present.
At that moment, as we sat side by side, the air filled with the warmth of our laughter, and I felt a flutter in my heart. Perhaps, amidst our teasing and banter, there was a hidden undercurrent of something deeper, waiting to be explored. As I glanced at Jungwon, his eyes twinkling with mirth, I couldn't help but wonder what adventures awaited us beyond the boundaries of this night and how our connection would continue to grow and evolve.
