"WE NEED TO get her back to the camp," Hyein exclaimed, her voice laden with urgency and genuine concern. The gravity of the situation was palpable, and the group nodded in unison, their solidarity evident. With gentle hands, they helped me rise, but as I attempted to put weight on my injured ankle, a searing ache shot through my leg, threatening to buckle my resolve. Exhaling a resigned sigh, I resigned myself to the fact that my scraped knee and sprained ankle would continue to torment me.
The boys, their guilt etched upon their faces, hurried over, their remorse evident in their wide eyes. Beomgyu, his voice laced with regret, stammered, "J-Jurin, are you okay?" Beside him, Yeonjun stood with a similar expression, his gaze fixed on the ground, unable to meet my eyes.
Minji's voice brimmed with a mixture of anger and disappointment as she confronted them, "Look what you've done. Not so funny now, is it?" Taking charge, she gently wrapped my arm around her shoulder, providing much-needed support for me to stand.
"We never intended for anyone to get hurt!" Yeonjun exclaimed, his voice tinged with regret as he glanced at Minji, his remorse plain to see.
"Well, it did," Haerin interjected, surprising me with her assertiveness as she stepped forward, defending our friendship with unwavering conviction. At that moment, I felt a surge of gratitude for her unwavering support. With a shared understanding, we turned away from the boys, relying on each other as they helped me limp back to the campsite, where I could tend to my wounds and find solace in the care and compassion of my true friends.
instead of her friends taking her to the first aid station, let Jungwon take her and help her walk, wrapping her arm around his shoulder and she gets flustered.
As we made our way back to the campsite, my injured leg throbbing with each painful step, I couldn't help but feel a sense of embarrassment. I had always been clumsy, but this fall had taken it to a new level. My cheeks flushed as we approached the campfire, where Jungwon and his friends sat, unaware of the events that had transpired.
However, as I limped into view, Jungwon's eyes widened in shock. He immediately stood up, his concern etched on his face. "What happened?" he exclaimed, his voice filled with worry as his eyes darted to my scraped knee.
I mustered a weak smile, avoiding his gaze. "I, uh... I tripped," I stammered, feeling a pang of embarrassment at the situation. The embarrassment washed over me once again as I avoided his gaze, feeling self-conscious about my own clumsiness.
Jungwon's brows furrowed, his concern deepening as he examined the extent of my injury. Niki's sharp intake of breath and his hissing comment only added to my discomfort.
"That looks really bad," Niki stated, his expression showing his shock at the sight of my wound. I hadn't realized just how much skin I had scraped, but the sight of the large, open wound on my leg and knee, not to mention my scraped elbows, sent a shiver down my spine.
Sunoo, always quick with his playful remarks, chimed in, "No shit, Niki. You're not making this better." He playfully slapped the back of Niki's head, causing the younger boy to yelp in surprise.
Minji, the voice of reason, stepped forward, her eyes narrowing at the boys. "We're going to take her back to treat her wounds. We'll deal with this later," she declared firmly, her tone leaving no room for argument.
However, before Minji could take charge, Jungwon's voice cut through the air, a mixture of concern and determination. "I'll take her."
My eyes widened in surprise, my heart skipping a beat at his unexpected offer. I glanced up at him, meeting his gaze, and saw the genuine worry and care reflected in his eyes. Without waiting for a response, he walked over to us, followed closely by his friends.
The sight of Jungwon standing before me, ready to take care of me, sent a warmth spreading through my chest. It was a gesture of kindness that touched me deeply, making me feel seen and cared for.
I smiled before quickly snapping out of my thoughts. I shook my head. "You really don't have to-" I spoke before someone cut in.
"I want to..." Jungwon interrupted, his gaze serious as he looked deeply into my eyes as if getting caught in my gaze.
Before I could argue back, an arm slithered around my waist. Jungwon grabbed my arm, placing it over his shoulder.
With his arm around my waist, Jungwon gently guided me, his touch sending a comforting tingle through my body. As we walked back to the campsite, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. The pain in my leg was still present, but it was overshadowed by the tenderness and support I felt from Jungwon.
