AS TIME TICKED BY, my mind was consumed with thoughts of Beomgyu. I grappled with the idea of turning him down, torn between sparing his feelings and avoiding a public rejection. I knew him well enough to anticipate a grand gesture, and the last thing I wanted was to embarrass him in front of a crowd.

Lost in my contemplation, Hanni settled beside me while Jungwon remained deep in his own musings on my other side. "You two look like you're about to pop a brain cell with all that thinking," Hanni remarked casually, munching on slices of apple.

"Quit overthinking, guys. We've only got this fancy cottage for the day, so let's make the most of it," Hanni chimed in, lifting our spirits as we exchanged soft smiles and nods.

Yuri emerged from the kitchen, joining Jungwon and me. With a secretive gesture, she passed him strawberries drizzled with chocolate, eliciting a look of pure delight from him. Witnessing his reaction stirred something within me, though I couldn't quite pinpoint the feeling.

Hanni's antics drew our attention, and as we watched, Yuri playfully reached for a strawberry to feed Jungwon. In a surprising move, I leaned closer to Jungwon and held the strawberry in my mouth, freezing everyone in shock, myself included. A pang of uncertainty gripped me—was it jealousy? Jungwon blushed at our proximity, while Yuri simply rolled her eyes, handing the bowl to Jungwon to enjoy the treat on his own. Our eyes locked, cheeks flushed, and in a daring move, Jungwon poked my cheek, the strawberry still nestled in my mouth, giving me a chipmunk-like appearance.

"My cute jealous girl," Jungwon murmured with a soft smile, catching me off guard. Stunned by his choice of words, I shifted back against the couch, hiding my blushing cheeks, and smile from him by turning towards Hanni. She shot me an annoyed look, guiding my gaze forward and away from Jungwon's gaze, who was still watching me intently.

Time passed, and the day's main event approached—a barbecue. We all got dressed and prepared to head back to our cottages, Jungwon and I sneaking away discreetly to avoid prying eyes. Upon returning, we joined the rest of the class for the barbecue.

"Welcome, students! The barbecue will be ready in around two hours so we will commence eating at night. Take this opportunity to bond and enjoy yourselves. Seating arrangements have been set up in circles around the tables. Please find your seats," the teacher announced. After being dismissed, we made our way to the seating area, where chairs formed two circles around a central table.

Spotting Hanni and the girls, I approached them. "Let's sit together," Danielle suggested, linking arms with me. I smiled and nodded, accompanying them to our seats. As we settled down, there were still seven empty chairs, until Minji called out.

"Hey, there are seven seats over here!" Minji's voice carried to Jungwon's group, and soon they were making their way towards us, with Minji shooting me a wink.

"Thanks, guys," Jay expressed his gratitude as they took their seats. Danielle moved to sit next to Haerin, leaving a space beside me. I shot her a playful glare, but she just offered a sweet smile. Niki nudged Jungwon towards me, prompting him to take the seat beside mine. We exchanged knowing glances, understanding our friends' matchmaking efforts and shared a resigned sigh.

"I'm sooo hungry," Niki declared with a dramatic pout, playfully massaging his stomach for emphasis.

"Did you skip breakfast?" Haerin inquired, her belief in the importance of starting the day with a hearty meal evident in her tone.

"Not really, thanks to someone who nearly devoured all the food in our cottage," Niki lamented, shooting a playful glare at Heeseung.

Heeseung, caught off guard by the sudden attention, munched on a few chips he had managed to salvage. "What?" he exclaimed, drawing laughter from the group.

Niki reached for the chip bag but promptly returning it once met with Heeseung's stern gaze. "Sorry hyung..."

"Yah let the poor guy eat! He missed breakfast," Danielle chimed in, coming to Heeseung's defense as she deftly snatched the chips from him and handed them over to Niki. A look of surprise crossed Heeseung's face as Niki beamed gratefully at the unexpected gesture.
