"He shot Kim! I just know he did!" Adam tried running into the building, but Hank and Al held him back.
"You're the last person we want going in there right now. Stay out here."
"I guess no one remembers her nearly dying before!"
"The sound of a gunshot doesn't mean she was hit."
"Kim, got anything?" Sean said into his radio. He waited and waited, but received no response. "Kim, are you there?"
He glanced back at Adam and then walked a little ways closer to the school. "Answer me right now before I come in there and kick your ass."
His radio started making noises. "Are you there?"
"I'm here."
"Are you all okay?"
"We're fine."
"Who was shot?"
"I shot the kid. The one with the gun."
"Is he dead?"
"I think so."
"We'll be right in. Don't move from where you are."
"Yeah yeah yeah, got it."
She turned to the kids. "Are you guys okay?"
"We're fine, I think Diego might be hurt."
She rushed to his side and lifted his head up. He was moaning in pain. Mikayla jumped to his side to see if he was okay.
"Kim watch out!" Terrance yelled when he saw the gunman getting up.
Suddenly, the door was busted down and Hank was standing there. "You better put your hands up, dirtbag."
He dropped the gun and put his hands. "I require medical assistance."
"You're not going anywhere unless it's in the back of a cop car."
He cried out in pain. "Get your hands off me!"
"I don't think so."
"We got him." Al said as he placed cuffs on him.
"Why don't you and Diego get yourselves down to Med? We can take it from here." Hank told her.
"I don't need to get checked out." Kim pushed past him and outside.
She ignored Adam and got into her car. He swiped the keys from her hand just before she started the car.
"You're not driving, I am. Deal with it."
"Give me back my keys before I run you over."
"Get out of the car."
"Why should I?"
"I told you to. Now get out of the car."
"No."
"I'm not asking you again."
She huffed angrily and got out of the car. "Happy now?"
"Why didn't you stay outside like I told you to?"
"I'm a grown woman."
"You again, for the, oh I don't even know how many times now, almost got yourself killed."
"What if it were our kids in there? Wouldn't you have done the same thing?"
"I'm not going to answer that."
"If it were our kids in there, would you have done the same thing? Yes, or no?"
"If it had been our kids in there, I would've beaten that guy."
"I'm done with this conversation."
She got into the car and peeled out of the driveway.
"She's pissed." Jay elbowed him.
"Ya think?"
"Why don't you go talk with her?"
"You don't understand what Kim is like when she's angry. She's the type that will stab me with a fork if I say even one word to her."
Jay laughed. "She'd actually stab you with a fork?"
"You know what I mean."
"She'll come around."
"I don't know about that."
"Go buy her some flowers, a bottle of her favorite wine and she'll forget about yelling at you."
"She'd throw the bottle at my head."
"Buy her some jewelry, too."
"Do I look like I'm made of money?!"
Jay laughed. "If you want to get laid tonight, roses, jewelry and wine."
"Shut up before someone hears this conversation."
"Too late, boys." Leslie winked at them as she walked by.
"Does that girl eavesdrop all the time or what?"
"She's notorious for it."
"Did Kim teach her that?"
"Most likely."
"I feel bad for you."
"Doesn't everyone?" Adam laughed.
That night after shift, Adam swung by the grocery store to. He figured since Kim was furious with him, it would be a better idea for him to knock. He did and got no answer. "Babe?" He said as he knocked once more.
After failed attempts, he unlocked the door with his key and walked in. "Where are the kids?"
"My parents." She said without looking at him.
"Can you look at me, please?"
"Nope."
"I bought you flowers. Red roses, your favorite."
"Put them in a vase or they'll die."
He put the flowers in a vase and set the bag on the table. She turned the TV off and started going into their bedroom.
"Hold it right there." He said as he reached for her arm.
"Let go of me."
"Not until you talk to me."
"I'm talking to you right now!"
"You're not mad at me, you're mad at yourself."
"Leave me alone." She ripped her arm away and slammed the door in his face.
He walked in anyway after he was told not to. "I got you this. Your favorite wine. Would you like a glass?"
"Get away from me before I call the cops."
"We're friends with all the cops in this city, they won't do a thing."
"Get away from me."
He left the room. He got out candles, set them on the coffee table and lit them. He scattered rose petals all around the room and then called her out.
"Don't try going all cute on me, I'm not falling for it."
"Get over here."
"You're not the boss of me."
"I don't recall asking you a question."
He grabbed her arm and pulled her into his lap.
"Knock it off before I punch you."
He lifted his shirt off and pulled her closer.
"I said stop it."
"You know you don't want me to."
She looked deep into his eyes. "Race you to the bedroom."
"You're on."
