Sylvie walked into the firehouse, finding Kelly reading the newspaper.
"Hey you." She smiled and leaned in to give him a kiss.
"Hey." He smiled back.
"How's everything here?"
"Mills isn't thrilled about being a medic again."
They laughed.
"Well when a lady throws a chair at you for helping her, what kind of thanks is that?!" Peter hollered in response.
"Calm yourself, Peter. She was just in a lot of pain."
"It was still rude!"
"Shut it."
Peter rolled his eyes and turned his focus to the hockey game on TV.
"How's our little girl doing?" He smiled as he rubbed Sylvie's belly.
"She's doing great. Four more months until we get to meet our little angel."
Ember looked over from her coloring book. "Baby?"
"Yeah princess, that's your baby sister in there."
"Why she no here?"
"She's in auntie Sylvie's belly. She has to finish growing before we can meet her."
"When's that?"
"About four more months."
She rolled her eyes. "That's SO far away, daddy."
He laughed. "Not if you think about it, you want her to be full grown when she meets us, don't you?"
"Yeah, but I wanna see her now."
"How about you come with us to the appointment? You'll get to see her on a computer screen."
"Yeah!"
Nadia was out in the waiting room, keeping Ember occupied while Sylvie and Kelly went into the office.
The technician made a variety of faces, puzzled, concerned and others like that.
"What's wrong? Is everything okay?" Sylvie asked, beginning to worry.
"I don't know how to say this, but...your pregnancy is no longer."
"What do you mean no longer?!" Kelly shouted, scaring both Sylvie and the technician.
"There's no movement and no heartbeat."
"What happened?!" Sylvie said, taking all her strength not to cry.
"Were you taking any medication during your pregnancy?"
"No. I mean I took aspirin a few times for headaches, but that was it."
"How many at a time did you take?"
"Two? I never took more than two at a time."
"What was the dosage amount?"
"I'm not sure, but I know it was extra strength."
"Did you take anything for morning sickness?"
"I took Zofran."
"You what?"
"I took Zofran. Was I not supposed to?"
"That drug has not been approved by the FDA to be taken by pregnant women."
"It's not?! Then why was it prescribed to me?!"
"Clearly, your doctor has no knowledge of medicine."
