Mikayla, Mackenzie, Terrance, Jonah, Diego, were all sitting in class that morning. The teacher hasn't shown up yet, so they decided on doing pretty much what ever they wanted. Mikayla was going through her purse, Mackenzie was texting her best friend in another class, Terrance pretended to read his textbook, Jonah was talking to his girlfriend and Diego pulled out a Red Bull. Mackenzie peaked over at what Mikayla was doing, as she became suspicious.

"Whatcha doing?"

"Nothing!" She slammed her purse shut and leaned on it.

"Are you sure it's nothing?"

"No need to worry your pretty little head about it!"

"Are you lying?"

"Nope! Not lying!"

"I don't believe you."

Mikayla looked around, making sure no one was trying to listen in on her. She looked back up. "I've got pills in here."

"DUDE! That can get you suspended! Or even worse, expelled and thrown in juvenile hall!"

"It's just ibuprofen for cramps. I'm done with drugs, I've learned my lesson."

"I'm not sure I believe that."

"Do you really think I'd lie to you about this?"

"I'm not sure I know anymore."

The teacher walked in and after she wrote the lesson plans on the white board, Mikayla raised her hand.

"Yes?"

"Can I go to the bathroom?"

"Be quick." The teacher said, sitting down at his desk.

She snatched her purse off her desk and dove for the bathroom. Once she was in a stall, she locked the door and opened her purse. From inside, she pulled out a syringe and a small vial of something.

She double checked and locked the bathroom door, before disappearing back into the stall. She filled the syringe with the liquid and then injected it on the crease of her arm. Before returning to the classroom, she injected her arm until the vial was empty. She threw the empty vial and used needle in the bottom of the trash can and then went back to class. The contents of the vial immediately made her jumpier than her usual self. When she got back into class, the teacher pointed to one of the lab desks in the back.

"Why are you pointing there?"

"Casey is your lab partner, get back their and start on your project."

"What project?"

"Just go."

"Alright then." She walked back and sat next to Mackenzie.

"Okay, so what's the project?"

Mackenzie slammed her pencil down on the desk.

"Mikayla Annabelle Halstead, are you freaking high? Your eyes are bloodshot."

"I just didn't get enough sleep last night is all."

"I'm not gonna believe a word you say anymore. The project is we have to dissect this frog and all the details are on this sheet. Read it and weep, princess."

She picked up the paper and made a face at it. "This sounds gross."

"No shit, Sherlock."

Her hand started twitching.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Why?"

"Do you not see how bad your hand is shaking right now?"

"I don't feel it."

Suddenly, her whole body started twitching and she fell to the floor. Her eyes rolled back into her head and she started seizing.

"SOMEBODY HELP!" Mackenzie screamed so loud that people out in the hallway heard her.

Everyone was rushing around the room, unsure what to do. The teacher was dialing 911, another student ran to get a first aid kit and Diego ran down to the nurses office.

"What I can do for you, Mr. Dawson?"

"Someone's having a seizure up in the chemistry lab!"

"Oh my god..." She grabbed her emergency bag and raced back up to the room with him.

"Ambulance sixty one. Person in distress. Lakeshore High School."

"I gotta go." Sylvie said as she worriedly got her shoes on.

"Be safe. I love you."

"I love you too." She kissed him before peeling out of the firehouse, driving like a maniac.

"Damn, woman. Slow down!"

"The last time we got called to the high school, someone got their head smashed into the bleachers. I can't even imagine what it is now."

"Slow down before you kill us!" He yelled, grabbing the handle above the door.

"Shut up and let me drive, damn it!"

He didn't speak again until they arrived at the school. He grabbed the medical bag as she grabbed the backboard. They both ran up the stairs and everyone pointed to the chemistry lab. People were gathered around someone that appeared to be laying on the floor.

"Help!" Someone yelled. It was Mackenzie.

"What the hell happened?!" Xander asked her.

She pointed to the floor and there lay Mikayla, unconscious and not moving.

"What happened to her?!" He asked again.

"I don't know! We were just working on a project, when out of no where she falls off her stool and onto the floor."

"Do you know if she took any medication?"

"Not that I know of, I mean she has some ibuprofen in there, but that's for headaches."

"Everyone please step back!"

Sylvie grabbed the pocket flashlight and shined it into her eyes. "Dilated pupils."

"What does that mean?"

"It means she overdosed on something, Xander."

"Oh god."

"No it is not."

He examined her a little more closely, and noticed little pinpricks on the inner part of her arm.

"Check this out." He showed her.

"Son of a bitch! I'm gonna kill that kid!"

"Kill who?"

"Don't worry about it."

"Is she gonna be okay?" Mackenzie asked, worry in her voice.

"We have to get to the hospital and now!"

They lifted her unconscious body onto the gurney as Sylvie started an i.v.

Xander hopped in the drivers seat and made a beeline for Chicago Med. as they arrived, doctors were rushing out the door.

"What happened?" The surgeon asked them.

"A drug overdose. I'm not sure what she took. I didn't find anything on her."

"We got it from here." They rushed her into the OR as Sylvie looked ahead, depressed and unsure.

"Hey, cheer up. We got to her in time. That's the important thing, isn't it?"

"She used to be such a good kid. After Erin went to New York, something changed. I don't know what it is. She was the example child and now...she skips class, drinks, does drugs. What if one day, it's too late when someone gets to her? She's destroying her life and doesn't realize it."
