Alana's POV
I flutter my eyes open in the morning when I hear my phone buzzing on my nightstand.
"Ugh, what time is it?" I grab my phone and see it's my manager, Steve, who's calling.
Steve's like that one funny uncle who talks WAY too much, but he's been my manager since I first started my music career, and he's super helpful.
I groan and press 'Answer'. "Steve, it's 7 in the morning, what do you want?" I say, putting the phone on speaker.
"Good morning to you, too, Alana." He chuckles. "You got a meeting at 10, kid. Get up and get ready." He tells me.
"A meeting? What for? I didn't have anything on my schedule?" I say, furrowing my eyebrows.
"You'll see when you get here. Come to the record label by 10, my office." He says.
"Fine." I groan and he just laughs. "See you later." I say before hanging up.
"Guess I'll get ready then." I say out loud as I stretch out of bed and walk to the kitchen in my apartment.
I hear paws clicking against the hardwood floor as I turn the corner to see my dog, Rocky, standing there wagging his tail.
"Hi, buddy." I coo at him as I pet his head. "Come on, let's go." I tell him and he follows me to the kitchen where I pour his dog food into his bowl for him to eat.
I walk to the fridge and make myself an iced coffee and I eat a bagel with it.
I walk back to my bedroom and go into the bathroom to brush my teeth. I put on some makeup quickly, watching Netflix on my phone as I do since I'm a person who loves to multitask.
I take my pajamas off and put on some sweatpants and a blue baby tee.
I hope this isn't one of those dumb fancy business meetings and just one where Steve talks about me going on tour or something.
It's somehow already 9:30, so I slip on my sneakers and grab my keys to go. "Be good while I'm gone." I say, patting Rocky's head and he wags his tail again.
I walk out of the door and lock it before going in the elevator to get to the lobby of my apartment building.
I walk to my car and get in, starting the engine as I buckle myself in and start to back out of my spot.
"Hey, Siri. Text Steve 'On my way'." I say to my phone as I drive and she does so.
The record label is about 20 ish minutes from my building so I might be a little early.
I pull up to the building and park my car in my reserved spot and walk inside. "Good morning, Ms. Williams." The receptionist says as I walk in.
"Morning, Amy." I say, waving with a smile. I step into the elevator and press floor 13, where Steve's office is.
The elevator dings and I step out and walk down the hall to Steve's office. "Hey, Steve." I say, knocking before I walk in.
"Hey, kid. Ready to go to the conference room?" He asks and I nod.
"Can you just tell me what the meeting's about please?" I ask as we walk down the hall. "We're gonna talk about it when we get there." He tells me as he opens the door to the conference room.
As the door swings open, I see none other than Billie Eilish herself, sitting in a chair at the table.
"Oh, you've gotta be shitting me." I groan as I look over at Steve who has a sheepish look on his face.
"Can I talk to you privately, Steve?" I ask.
"Uh, yeah. Give us a minute." He says before walking out of the room with me and shutting the door.
"Steve! Are you serious? Billie Eilish?" I whisper yell to him so her and her manager don't hear. "Me and her and practically mortal enemies!" I say, facepalming.
"I know, I know." He says, scratching the back of his neck. "Just please cooperate, Alana. I'm begging you." He pleads.
I sigh and nod. "Fine." I say, then go to open the door once again. As I walk in with Steve, we take a seat at the table, facing across from Billie and her manager, Chris.
She looks me up and down and scoffs.
"Relax. You two need to calm down. It's not the end of the world." Chris sighs as he looks through his file of paperwork.
"Yes it is." Billie huffs.
"You could say that again." I sigh, slouching into my chair and she gives me a dirty look.
"Look, I know you two hate each others guts for some reason that I really don't care about, but we need to discuss a plan." Steve says.
"Alright. What is it?" I sigh.
"We're planning a fake relationship for you two." I go to open my mouth and Steve stops me. "Please, just let me finish." He says. "It'll just be for a few months, just a little publicity thing since you both are announcing new albums later this year so you'll get more attention, that's all." He tells us and Chris nods.
"No. Fuck, no. Anyone else but her!" She shouts at Chris and Steve and I shoot her a sarcastic smile.
"You have to, you kids have a contract and we're deciding this. It's final." Chris says, putting his hands up.
"Please, Steve. Do something! I can't date her even if it's fake. I'd rather date a man than her." I shout and Steve laughs since he knows I'm a lesbian.
"Shut up, bitch." She rolls her eyes at me.
"You shut up, cunt!" I shout back.
"You know what~" She shouts as she tries to get up from her seat but Chris pushes her back down.
"Ladies, ladies, ladies! Calm it down!" He says sternly. "We are not doing this. I don't know what issues you two have with each other, but you need to figure them out because this plan is not getting changed whether you like it or not." He tells us.
"But!~" I try to argue but Steve stops me.
"Alana, I told you to cooperate. Please, just let it go. It's a fake relationship. You don't have to hang out, we just need you in public and at events and such acting like a couple for a while." He says, patting my back to calm me down and I nod in defeat.
"Fine. Can we go now, please?" I ask him, refusing to lift my head up from looking down at my lap.
"Yeah, c'mon." He says, getting up and pushing his chair in at the table and I do the same.
He shakes hands with Chris and Billie and Billie shoots him a smile before dropping it when I look at her and I roll my eyes.
"Later, baby." She says, laughing with a smug grin to piss me off as we start to walk out of the room and I turn around to look at her, sucking air between my teeth.
"Lana, let it go. Come on." Steve grabs my arm and I turn away with a glare and walk out of the door with him.
We get back to his office and he sits back at his desk. "So.. what do you think?" He asks, biting the inside of his cheek nervously.
"I think I need to go home so I don't beat your ass right now!" I say, slumping down on the couch in his office and he laughs.
"Calm it down there, kid." He chuckles. "Fine, go home. I really don't feel like going home to my wife with a black eye." He says and I laugh softly.
"Bye, Steve." I say, getting up and grabbing my purse before walking to the elevator and going back out to the parking lot of the building.
I get into my car and start the drive home.
"This has to be the worst fucking day of my life." I groan, hitting the steering wheel.
