'Yeah...and they broke up.' I overheard some girls, leaning slightly towards each other, and talking about something as I climbed up the stairs. Break ups and proposals- these two topics travel faster than the electricity in my school. For what these girls (almost bitches) talk about, gossip should be small word. I never get into these things. I feel it is unnecessary; how can you even give a minute discussing shit about people you have no connections with? Don't get me wrong, I hear it if someone comes and tells me, but the girls in our school, keep sitting and discussing it whole day! Can you imagine, whole day!
First things first, I wanted to make my morning good, by seeing Sam's face, and giving him a high five! if someone would ask me the reason of the happy face I am carrying everywhere, I would definitely give all the credits to Sam! I mean, seeing your crush everyday in the start of the day- what could possibly be better? I reach my classroom door, wave a hi to Soumya and Prateek, and get in, hoping to find Sam! Surprisingly, he was not there.
Shit. Sam's missing.
I look around in the class and try to see if Sam is with anyone else....nope!
I run to the corridor to check if he's standing with someone else..... nope!
This was his usual time. He had not mentioned that he would not be coming today. He messages me in an advance if he were to take a leave. Probably he's late. I quickly slip my bag and open the first chain. I unlock my phone and see if there are any messages.
Insta...no!
Messages...no!
Telegram...no!
WhatsApp...no!
I notice that he had not sent me any messages after reaching home. Not that he usually does, but I don't know why I feel like something happened. My mind made so many assumptions, especially today! I quickly ran towards rachit and asked him 'rachit, did Sam tell you that he's not coming today?'
He shrugged 'no Tia, why?'
Shit. shit. shit.
'Why are you so tensed?' he asked, scanning my face.
'Nothing, I am not tensed,' I casually said, despite of the fact that I could see sweat line up my forehead.
He shrugged again and continued his conversation with others. I sat on the bench, with my heartbeat raising. What if Vaibhav did something to him? Or, what if he's into some trouble? God, no! please.
Oh wait! you don't know Vaibhav, right? Duh, one more introduction. Meet Vaibhav. We all have that one guy or girl (mostly guys) in the entire school, who is popular because of their guts and has been to the principal's office more than anyone else. Yeah, the guy of our school was Vaibhav. When we were in 8th, he proposed me, in front of the whole school, and I said a clear no. Vaibhav also got suspended for 4 days to offend the decorum of the school, though he did that after the school hours, but in school premises. There was this anger in his eyes, which might be natural after the rejection; which- to his ego, was a public humiliation. When his anger exploded and his ego got hurt, he said a lot of things to me. And Sam was absent on that day, so the next day, when Sam came to know about it, he straight on went on fight with him. He warned him to stay away from me, or else he'll not spare him. I still remember his words. He held Vaibhav through the collar and said, "Touch her and I'll break your neck, Vaibhav."
Since then, they've been rivals. and I am so scared that one day something might happen, and Sam would get hurt. I don't want to fall into all this. At least not Sam. I don't want him to get hurt by any means. all these things are pretty much unnecessary!
