Chapter 23: The King and His Golden Generals

Sunday April 27

The Bakusquad were understandably worried for Katsuki. He hadn't left Izuku's room since Katsuki got out of the hospital. The only visitors were Shouto and Ochaco on Saturday, but apparently something occurred that changed the dynamics of several classmates. Momo Yaoyorozu, a normally sweet and kind girl, would glare at either of them with disapproval.

If Ochaco was sitting in the common room and Yaoyorozu walked in, Ochaco would have a deer-in-the-headlights look and hastily leave the area. Or if Shouto was making a meal in the kitchen while Yaoyorozu made herself tea, she would loudly huff, and tap her manicured fingers on the table with a scowl.

Mina, Kaminari, Sero, and Kirishima noticed this and whispered to themselves what happened. They'd asked Yaoyorozu why she was upset, who merely stated 'It's none of your concern.' That went nowhere. Then they cornered the puffy, red-eyed Ochaco, asking her what was going on and why she had a huge bandage on her neck. She stuttered, covering her neck, and simply found different excuses to run away. Strange. Finally, they asked the resident introvert, Shouto. 'There's nothing going on. Bye.' Even curiouser. Shouto wasn't one to lie to people. Sure he'd keep secrets, but he'd usually tell the truth if asked—albeit a little bluntly. But today, he lied straight to their faces.

Mina was at her wits end. She knew her Blasty Blonde Bombshell was going through a tough time. He even refused her French vanilla ice cream! He never refuses! Katsuki loves French vanilla! Mina decided she needed to do something. She then called a meeting, gathered the Bakusquad minus Katsuki in her room and told them her hairbrained plan. Kirishima thought it was a terrible idea, but did not dare anger Mina and cockblock himself in the process. Kaminari thought it was brilliant (surprise, surprise). And Sero thought it might work, only if they recruited a new member.

So Hagakure became an honorary Bakusquad member. See, the plan needed stealth, and she was born for it. Hagakure is what one would call an adrenaline junkie. She loved being flashy and doing dangerous things, if only to feel more alive since people will literally look through her as if she doesn't exist. And when Mina asked her to spy on the three, Hagakure couldn't say no—especially since the Bakusquad pooled their allowance to pay her a hefty sum. She already said yes before Mina finished explaining the plan, surprising the group at how easily she agreed to the mission. All the training and skills she acquired in UA was meant for this moment—to find the juiciest gossip.

Hagakure had her first mission—stalk one of the three to see if any one of them would spill the beans. Everyone thought she was in her dorm room studying alone. The first thing she did was undress. No clothes meant 100% stealth mode. She headed downstairs avoiding the elevator and took the stairs. When she reached the common room, Hagakure spotted all three. Her first case was Yaoyorozu. Hagakure quietly stood in the corner where Yaoyorozu was in the kitchen washing dishes from previously eating dinner. Shouto and Ochaco were in the common room studying with several others. Once Yaoyorozu finished, she glared at the two and headed towards the elevator.

Hagakure then quietly tip-toed back out of the common room and towards the exit located by the emergency staircase. She ran to the corner of the building where Mina held her grappling hook.

"I'm back, Mina!" Hagakure called out to inform her she was there.

A surprised Mina turned around towards the direction of her voice. "Here Toru, I unraveled it like you said," Mina said, holding out the grappling hook to the space in front of her.

"Thanks!"

"Are you sure you can climb your way up there? It's kinda high up," Mina asked.

"Yup! I've been practicing on sharpening my stealth skills ever since I interned with Mr. Plastic last year. He said I would be a great asset to a hero agency one day."
