DAY FIVE of the Trial

Katsuki woke up to the sound of gentle pitter-patter of light rain on the window.  It had rained most of the evening and into the night, soaking the ground.  The day he had been dreading had finally arrived.  The disarray of his nest reflected his inner turmoil; clothes that were woven into the layers of fabrics had unraveled and fallen off the floor, while the fluffy pillows he bought at Best Bath & Bedroom were shoved unceremoniously into the corner.  As much as he wanted to be there for Izuku, he was barred from setting foot in the courtroom.  Katsuki could not do anything about that, but he could at least focus on performing his best at the Sports Festival.

He headed downstairs after getting ready to meet his fellow classmates where they would all get on a bus and be driven to the UA Stadium at 9am.  The stadium itself was located off campus, in a wider, open area for parking that was closer to the main highways and Musutafu Grand Central Train Station.  Thousands would be arriving about now, filling in the seats of the arena.  Even in the rain, the UA Sports Festival would not be canceled.  Retractable roofs would provide temporary relief from the weather until the main events began.  Bad weather made the events extremely challenging; therefore, the viewership would skyrocket especially since many would be indoors watching the Sports Festival in their comfy home, office, or cafe throughout Japan.

Katsuki made sure he was first to the bus to get dibs on his preferred seat.  He shook out the water droplets from the umbrella, placed it in the stand by the entrance, then walked all the way to the back to sit down by himself.  He put on his earbuds to listen to some classic Buck-Tick to get into the mood when a flash of violet invaded his eyesight.

"The hell?!  Find another seat!" Katsuki growled.

"Wish I could, Blastard, but our sensei wanted us to join Class 3-A on the bus so we can arrive at the same time as your famous class does.  Vlad King doesn't want us to be overshadowed ever again like our first year—even though technically I wasn't a part of his class at the time.  He has been in competition with your sensei ever since," Shinso explained.

Katsuki looked around and found every single seat was filled with Class 3-A and Class 3-B students, everyone showing different levels of excitement or nervousness as they talked to each other, throwing out theories about what events they will have to face.

"Tch.  Fine.  Whatever.  Just don't start a useless conversation with me.  I'm trying to psych myself up."  Katsuki settled lower in his seat as he highered the volume on his phone, the song playing loudly enough for another person to hear.

"Buck-Tick.  Nice.  I actually kept several vinyls of theirs from the storage we found at Shizuoka City.  Been listening to them almost nonstop."

"What did I just say, troll?  Shut it," Katsuki grumbled, his eyes closed as he bobbed his head to the tempo.

Shinso snorted, smirking.  "'Kay."  He leaned back as well, listening to the music blaring from Katsuki's earbuds.

The ride was relatively a short distance; however, there was a lot of traffic due to the Sports Festival, so it took the bus a while to arrive at the parking lot.  Shinso was not sitting by the window seat, but he could still spot banners and posters supporting the students from Heroics class.  Several pink posters of Uravity were carried by cute girls in pink getup, a few Ingenium flags flew in the breeze, while Chargebolt, Creati, Pinky, Cellophane, Tsukuyomi, Froppy, and Red Riot had their own rabid fandom with posters and colorful banners.  Anyone could tell who were fans of Can't Stop Twinkling and Earphone Jack just by the sparkling or punk aesthetic they wore.
