Unexpected turns

Eira's pov

"You look beautiful" Amara whispered looking at me with an awe. I just came out of hair salon with streaks in my platinum blonde hair. I blushed at the unexpected compliment, feeling a surge of confidence with my new hairstyle. As I thanked Amara, I couldn't help but smile, knowing that the bold change was worth it.

"Thank you Amara," I was cut off with the ringing of my phone and I fished it out of jeans pocket. It was Jasper on the line. I picked up the call and pulled it to my ear.

"Eira, where are you?" Amara looked at me amused as Jasper's voice floated through the mobile speakers. "I am outside your apartment and you are not home" Amara wiggled her eyebrows looking at me, I turned around to avoid her teasing gaze.

"Why? Is everything okay?"

"Yes, I just came with some information about your uncle. Investigator just sent me the documents." I quickly thanked Amara and told her I had to go, promising to catch up with her later. As I walked out of salon, I felt a surge of anxiety mixed with anticipation. Jasper's news about my uncle could potentially change everything, and I couldn't wait to hear what he had found.

"Eira, wait" Amara came running from behind, "let me drop you off home"

I smiled gratefully at Amara and nodded, accepting her offer. We made our way to her car, and as we drove through the city, I couldn't help but glance at my reflection in the side mirror. The streaks in my hair seemed to shimmer under the city lights, and I marveled at how a simple change in appearance could make me feel so different.

As we pulled up to my apartment building, Jasper was still waiting outside. His tall frame leaned against his car, and he looked up as we approached. Amara parked the car, and I stepped out, feeling a mixture of nervousness and curiosity about the information he had regarding my uncle.

Jasper's eyes widened slightly when he saw me, and a small smile played on his lips. "Nice hair," he commented, and I chuckled, thanking him before biding Amara farewell and walking up the stairs with Jasper in my toe. I unlocked the door and walked in.

Jasper followed me into the apartment, closing the door behind him. The atmosphere was charged with tension, and I couldn't help but feel a knot forming in my stomach. I motioned for Jasper to take a seat as I settled on the couch, eager to hear what he had discovered about my uncle.

He handed me a folder containing documents and photos. I flipped it open, scanning through the papers as Jasper began explaining the findings. "Eira, we've uncovered some financial irregularities and suspicious transactions linked to your uncle's business. It seems like there's more to this than meets the eye."

I furrowed my brows, absorbing the information. The revelations were unexpected, and my mind raced with questions. "What do you mean, Jasper? Are you saying my uncle was involved in something illegal?"

Jasper nodded solemnly. "It appears that way. The investigator has dug deeper, and there are connections to a larger network. We need to be cautious. Your uncle might have stumbled into something dangerous. And he has potential to pull you with him"

"What do you think we should do. He has asked me to give him one hundred thousand dollars. And he has been reminding me about the money daily. What is he hurts my family if I can't give him money"

Jasper leaned forward, his expression serious. "We need to tread carefully, Eira. I think involving the authorities is the best course of action. We can provide them with the evidence we have, and they can handle it from there. Your safety and your family's safety are the top priorities."
