-Glimmers of hope-
Jasper's pov
"Mr. Sinclair?" I heard the voice far away. Like it was coming from the other side of the world. I tried to peel open my eyes. "Jasper," Amara's voice coaxed me to the world of consciousness. "Doctor is here for you"
I rubbed my eyes and stood up immediately. "We have a good news for you," she smiled in my direction, "your wife responded last night to our treatments. Her brain functioning is normal and it is just a matter of time before she fully wakes up"
For the first time in my life I felt tears of joy stream down my face. "Thank you doctor, can I meet her?"
"Sure, you can meet her when the visiting hours start" saying this doctor walked away and Amara came to me, her arms linked with mine.
"Jasper visiting hours start at two, how about we go to the house, you can have breakfast and freshen up before coming to hospital. You have spent a lot of time here. Besides you need to be fresh and high on energy when Eira wakes up"
She was right. I can't go in front of Eira looking like a homeless man living on streets and reeking of alcohol. She deserves better than this. She deserves the best and I am going to try like hell to be that best for her.
"Okay," I mumbled and followed Amara out of hospital. Nate and Tristan were gone, doing God knows what. Sitting in car my mind drifted off to what Tristan fears and I hope his suspicions are baseless and there is no one out there trying to kill Eira. My sweet, innocent Eira.
We reached our rented villa in no time and I stepped out of car while Amara parked the car. I stepped inside and the faint smell of her daily perfume was still present in the air. Faint yet present. The house felt empty and soul-less without Eira. But I have a hope. Hope that she will be alright and we will create a home together one day.
"I'll prepare you some breakfast" Amara came inside.
"You don't know how to cook" I smiled remembering the times when Nate told me tales of her cooking disasters.
"You learn a trick or two while living with a fiancé who knows how to cook very well" she smiled and walked to kitchen.
"What can I say, my brother is an excellent cook"
"That he is. Now go and take bath, no stalling. I want you bathed and changed in next thirty minutes. Be quick" I nodded and walked away. Amara surely have changed a lot. Nate surely have won a jackpot.
Warm water did little to soothe the ache in my muscles but a lot to take away my fears and despair and pain. I felt hopeful and fresh and good when I stepped out of shower. I wrapped a towel around my waist and walked out rummaging through my closet to find some trousers and shirt.
My gaze fell on Eira's side of closet. And I retrieved her shirt, which smelled distinctively like her. I took a whiff of her scent and smiled. She will be in my arms in few days and I will never let her go away from me.
"Jasper, be quick your breakfast is getting cold" Amara's voice came from the living room and I walked out. Amara had prepared toast and coffee and boiled eggs for me. Nate and Tristen were back too.
"Hey man," Tristan slapped my back as he was closest to me. "How are you doing. We heard the news"
"Better. A lot better than before" I pulled out the chair and sat down. "Did you guys find anything regarding the accident?"
"Yes we did but we will have this chat once you are done eating" I nodded and looked at Nate and Amara. My eyes fell over their hands where Nate held her hand and traced the ring on her finger. I felt a pang of jealously in my chest. I want to hold Eira as well.
