A/n- Listen to song above for dinner scene.

Vivian's pov:

It was a Friday night and Carrie had asked me and Collin to get ready to go out tonight. Where were we going exactly?

...

I honestly don't know, but, I did as she asked and got dressed. I put on a short white tank top with blue polka dots and black jean shorts with a black jacket.

After I was done getting dressed, I found myself some makeup to put on. Not much, just mascara and lipgloss.

The only makeup a girl should need.

After I was done getting dressed, I went downstairs to go check on Carrie. She was leaning over the kitchen table, fiddling with her wedding ring as she seemed deep in thought.

"Carrie? Are you okay?" I ask worriedly as I sat myself onto one of the table stools.

"Yes, I'm fine, sweetheart" she replied, putting on a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

"Are you sure?"

"Sure about what?" A familiar voice asks from behind me. I hold back a grin as I turn around on the moving stool and look into my boyfriend's eyes.

"On if Carrie is okay"

"Mom? You alright?" He asked, now with a look of concern on his face as he walked over to Carrie and hugged her, placing a small kiss on her cheek making her smile.

"I'm perfectly fine, you two. you shouldn't be worried about an old hag like me"

"That's exactly why we should be worried" Collin replied smugly.

I glare at him, he isn't helping.

"Are you sure, Carrie? You don't look fine" I say while looking back at her.

"I just miss my husband, that's all, sweetheart" she replies, Collin looks down, getting lost in his thoughts.

"I'm sorry you lost him so soon, Carrie" i apologise, I feel so sorry for her, losing the love of your life so young, hurts.

I don't know what I'd do if I lost Collin.

Losing the love of your life, that couldn't have been easy, especially when they are the most important person in your life.

I wonder how long Collin has been without his father, and Carrie without her husband.

Maybe one day they'd tell me?

"Anyways, you two, I'm taking you out to dinner tonight, okay? So be ready"

"Alright, Carrie. But should we dress casual, or?"

"Dress nice, I'm taking you somewhere special"

"Will do" collin tells her as he walks over to me and hugs me.

At least, that's what I thought he was doing before I noticed my chair leaning back.

"No! Collin please don't do that!"

I plead, I then shreak when the chair leans all the way back, and I slide backwards, before I could hit the ground, Collin caught me and sat me on the counter.

"Are you crazy?! I could have died!"

"I don't think so"

"Mm hmm, sure" I reply and we both end up laughing.

"I'm sorry for scaring you"

"Scaring me? I think that's a bit of an understatement, don't you think?"
