When the kakushi arrived to dispose of the mess, it was impossible to separate you from Kyojuro's dead body.

They arrived to the scene and saw the thick blue blanket that you were hiding under. Naturally, they didn't know there was a demon under there and went to remove the blanket. Only for Tanjiro to step in and tell the Kakushi off, saying things like "don't touch the blanket" and "remove the blanket and I'll make you wish you quit your job"

So when they were carrying Kyojuro's body away, they wrapped the blanket with the lump securely around his body because no matter how hard they tried, the blanket just wouldn't budge.

They took the injured slayers back to the Butterfly Mansion and the boys were taken to their usual rooms. Kyojuro and you, however, were taken to a separate room away from everyone else, mostly so Shinobu could conduct a proper autopsy report when she got back from her mission.

Before the Kakushi left the Flame Hashira alone, they drew the curtains as to not let any sunlight in to disturb the body. Descending the room into darkness, but not all the way since the sun was still new in the sky.

The lump on his lap began to move and your head slowly emerged out the blanket. Your bright (e/c) eyes were bloodshot red from all their cries, brows scrunched in discomfort as you gazed up longingly at your uncle's face. Hoping he would somehow wake up and greet you with his fierce grin.

But to your dismay, his face didn't move an inch. It really was true. He was dead.

You sat up properly in his lap and placed your hands back on his gaping wound, small smidges of blood staining your bandaged fingers.

You thought to yourself, why didn't freezing his blood work? If you could freeze your own blood, why couldn't you freeze his?

Your fingers clutched his uniform. It should've worked. Why didn't it work? Was it because you were crying? Helpless at the fact that your uncle was dying in front of you?

If crying was the problem then you should've frozen your tears! Was it your feelings that were the issue?

You started to tremble as more negative thoughts ran through your mind. Your hands practically squeezing his clothed abdomen with unwanted anger.
