A/N: I decided to change Liz's name to Caitlin, in case anyone was confused.
Joe, Mimi, and Ken heard about Caitlin's disappearance. Immediately, they dropped their activities and found their way to the Digital World. They found themselves in a form of desert.
"It's obvious she isn't here. This place is so vast, why would she even come here?" Joe asked as he looked around. His glasses slipped down his nose so he pushed them up.
"It wouldn't hurt to look, would it?" Ken asked. He held Wormmon in his arms, ready to let him down at the moment trouble appeared.
"Look!" Palmon outstretched a purple finger, pointing to something in the distance.
"What is it?" Mimi asked, looking out with her hand over her eyes to shield from the sun.
"It looks like an oasis." Gomamon said.
"It could just be a mirage." Joe said. He worried that they would travel to it to find out it was all in their heads.
"Can it be a mirage if we all see it?" Wormmon asked, tilting his head up to look at Ken.
"I guess not." He replied. "Let's go check it out." The two started the trek towards the oasis. Mimi and Palmon followed.
"Wait! We're coming, too!" Joe shouted. His feet slipped in and out of the sand as he and Gomamon followed the others.
The group walked with their feet sinking into the sand. The sun beat down on them harshly.
"We are almost there, just a bit more." Joe whimpered. He collapsed onto the ground by the lake. The ground here was harder, as it was made out of sandstone.
Suddenly, the little oasis began to shake as if an earthquake was taking place. Out of the waves of the water and the hard sandstone emerged a sandy colored scorpion with silver blades all over it and large claws.
"It's Scorpiomon!" Gomamon shouted.
"Scorpion Storm!" Scorpiomon shouted. Streams of sand went flying from the ventricles underneath the crustacean's body. The sand buried the group.
Joe was the first to pop his head out, spitting sand out from his mouth. Next was Mimi, then Ken. Their partners followed.
"We have to Digivolve!" Ken said, clenching his jaw. Scorpiomon was an Ultimate level Digimon. He was strong, but they could handle him
"We've taken him out before, but we were all Ultimate levels ourselves." Palmon said, recalling the memory.
"I've taken him out twice, I can do it again!" Gomamon said deteminedly. He scampered out of the sand, ready to attack the much larger Digimon.
Joe's digivice glowed, showering Gomamon in its light. "Gomamon digivolve to...."
In place of the small sea mammal was a large, furry, white beast with a large brown horn on its head. "Ikkakumon!"
"You've got me to help, too!" Palmon said. She was the showered in light from Mimi's digivice. "Palmon digivolve to...."
Palmon grew in length and width. A large green cactus with many black needles and red boxing gloves stood in her place. "Togemon!"
"I'm not going to let you guys get hurt!" Wormmon said as he jumped in front of the group. He instantly began to digivolve as Ken's digivolve glowed. "Wormmon digivolve to...."
A tall green and black insect stood. It had white wings and grey stingers on its hands. "Stingmon!"
"Needle Spray!" Togemon shouted. She shot the needles on her green skin at Scorpiomon.
The needles hit him, and he flinched. Yet, he wasn't about to go down.
"Harpoon Torpedo!" Ikkakumon yelled. He shot his brown horn from the top of his head. It split open and a little torpedo exploded on impact.
"Let's finish this! Spiking Strike!" Stingmon shot forward and skewered Scorpiomon with the spikes on its hand. Scorpiomon disintegrated into bits of data.
"We did it!" Mimi cheered as their partners degenerated to their Rookie forms.
"We still don't know where Caitlin and BlackGatomon are, though." Joe sad sadly. That was what they came here for.
Meanwhile, Chase and Aubrey watched the group from a distance.
"Caitlin?" Aubrey mumbled.
"Is that Lapis's friend?" Chase asked.
"Devimon has her." Lunamon stated.
"They'll never find her." Coronamon snickered.
Looking around, Ken's spotted a tall building off in the distance. "Guys, look!"
"It's a building...." Palmon said.
"We better call the others and go to it. Caitlin and BlackGatomon might be there!" Mimi suggested.
"Let's go." Joe nodded.
