"Datamon, you know what to do." Devimon smirked. Below him laid Caitlin, brown hair splayed out around her head and blue green eyes closed. BlackGatomon was strapped to the wall beside her, completely unconscious.

Datamon smirked, tapping his three fingers of one hand on a keyboard. His other mechanical arm held the Digi-Egg of Destiny, as well as Caitlin's black and purple Fusion Loader. The screen in front of his face glowed.

An orange beam scanned slowly over Caitlin from her toes up to her head. Across the room, a machine similar to the one Caitlin was on was creating a clone of her.

BlackGatomon opened her eyes, staring in horror at what was happening. "Caitlin, no!"

Devimon laughed. "Apocylamon will be so happy with me! I'll get this little brat's clone to destroy the Digidestined from the inside out, and then I'll destroy the original!"

"I won't let you hurt her!" BlackGatomon yelled, struggling against the binds holding her. "Caitlin, wake up! Caitlin, please! Caity!!!"

Caitlin blinked her blue green eyes open. When she looked around, she was home.

"Caitlin, get up! Your brother has a doctor's appointment, let's go!" Caitlin got up with a sigh at the sound of her mother's voice. She put on her clothes, brushed her hair and teeth quickly, and got in the car.

On the way to the hospital, a bright light shined through the car window, blinding the girl. When the light finally disappeared, a small device was in Caitlin's hands.

Reaching the hospital, she tucked the strange device into her pocket. However, on the way inside, a strange black cat found it's way to her, snuggling her leg.

"Hello..." Caitlin said, reaching down to pet the cat.

"Hi! I'm BlackGatomon, and I've been forever searching for you!" The cat purred. Caitlin jumped back, frightened. Yet, somehow, she knew it was her destiny to be with this little cat.

Caitlin blinked her eyes open, looking around. She couldn't see anything. Everything was completely dark. She began to panic, not knowing where she was or what to do. She screamed for help, yet no one would come.

Meanwhile, Lapis was freaking out. They searched high and low for Caitlin and BlackGatomon, but couldn't find her.

"She's gone!" Lapis cried, falling to her knees. Her best friend, who had been with her through everything, even joined Apocalymon's army with her. She was gone and Lapis had no idea where to look for her.

"We'll find her, I promise." Kari said, reaching down to engulf the sobbing girl into a hug.

"Ma'am!" Gaomon barked, ears flexing and teeth bared.

"What is it, Gaomon?" Lapis asked, looking at her partner. Her eyes widened in surprise and joy when she saw Caitlin and BlackGatomon walking towards them.

"Caitlin!" Lapis cried. She immediately stood up and rushed forward, hugging the other girl tightly. "I'm so glad you're okay! What happened to you?"

"Nothing, I'm fine." The girl said, voice monotonous. Lapis frowned. This wasn't at all like her friend.

"Where'd you run off to, then?" Izzy asked.

"You gave us quite a scare!" Palmon told her.

"Everything's fine." BlackGatomon said. Her voice had the same monotonous tone that Caitlin's had. On closer inspection, their eyes were completely blank.

"Something's not right here...." Izzy said, trying to figure things out in his head.

"You bet it isn't!" A voice said. Everyone turned, seeing a girl with dark brown hair and pale skin standing in a tree. She was clad in black clothing, green eyes shining.

"Who are you?" Matt asked, clenching his fists. He didn't want another kid he couldn't trust hanging around the group.

Lapis gasped, eyes welling up with tears. "No way...."

"That's right!" The girl winked, jumping down from the tree. She engulfed the blue haired girl in a bone crushing hug, then released her. "Did you really think I'd miss out on all the action?"

"M-Michaela?" Lapis gasped, staring wide eyed at the girl in front of her. (Throwback to anyone who read the original version of the first chapter.)

"Cat got your tongue?" Michaela laughed.

"Just who are you and how do you know Lapis?!" Tai growled.

"Yeah!" Agumon added.

Michaela ignored him, green eyes scanning the group. Her eyes landed on Kari and Gatomon, grinning. "Are you Kai Kamiya? And Gatomon?"

"That's me...." Kari mumbled.

"And me." Gatomon added, head titled to the side in confusion.

"Oh, that's great news!" Michaela grinned, clapping her hands together. "Wiz, you can come on out now!"

Suddenly, a tall Digimon appeared next to Michaela. He had on a purple cape and a purple hat over his blue skin. He was also holding a golden staff.

"W-W-Wizardmon?!" Gatomon gasped. Her blue eyes flooded with tears.

Wizardmon smiled, but the collar of his cape hid it. "Gatomon.... Kari....."

Gatomon rushed forward, hugging Wizardmon tightly. "It really IS you!"

Wizardmon hugged back, then let go. He turned to Caitlin and BlackGatomon. "Michaela, are you ready?"

Michaela nodded, holding up her Fusion Loader. On the screen, the Digiegg of Vanity glowed. "Wizardmon, now! Digiarmor Energize!"

"Wizardmon, armor digivolve to...." Wizardmon glowed, the Crest of Vanity flowing behind him. In his place stood a fiery version of Wizardmon, with red clothing and a match stick as a staff. The tip of his hat was raging with fire. "FlaWizarmon! The Vanity Wizard!"

Gatomon and Kari stared in aw at their friend. Someone who was once thought to be dead now stood in front of them. He was stronger now that he found his own partner.

"Fire Cloud!" A big cloud of fire rushed forth from the match stick, attacking Caitlin and BlackGatomon.

Meanwhile, a white Wizardmon was hiding behind a door. He peered out at Datamon, who had been left alone with the originals of Caitlin and BlackGatomon. Devimon had left a long time ago.

"Ice Illusion!" The Wizardmon shouted, sending Datamon into a personal snowstorm with his ice staff.

"Huh? Could it be?" BlackGatomon muttered to herself. Much like Gatomon and Wizard, BlackGatomon had her own personal wizard friend. "Sorcermon?"

"That's right, Blacky, I'm back!" He grinned. He turned to the machine holding Caitlin captive. He pointed his ice staff at the machine. "Crystal Barrage!" Little snow creations fired from the staff, breaking the machine and letting Caitlin go. He did the same to the one holding BlackGatomon, who jumped and landed on her feet.

"Let's go." She said, nodding her head. Using his icy magic, Sorcermon lifted up Caitlin, ready to bring her back to the rest of the group.
