A couple of seconds later, I was thrown in to the side of a building. I groaned and scrambled upright, spinning around to attack the metal man, but he was gone.
"The Avengers are here." I said into the comms in my ear.
"I know." Came the Soldier's grunt followed by the sound of clashing metal.
I barely got a warning before the metal man came flying at me again and I pulled out my gun, shooting at his suit rapidly, hoping to find a weakness in it. But they barely left dents as he hovered just in front of me, slowly moving closer to me.
"Don't bother kid." He told me. "You're wasting your bullets."
I slowly put away my gun and watching him warily, slowly reaching for one of the grenades at the back of my belt before throwing it at him with my enhanced reflexes. But he swerved to the side and knocked it away, causing it to blow up in the middle of the road, creating a large dent in it.
"Stay out of this fight kid." The man in the suit said. "You don't need to be hurt anymore. We'll be back for you once we calm down Barnes."
With that, he flew away, leaving me pressed up against the building. I waited a couple of seconds ot make sure he was gone before I heaved myself up a ladder on the side of another building to try and see where the Solder was. I saw him about 200 metres away locked into combat with Steve Rogers and I jumped down from the building, creating a protective sheild around me with my fire. It absorbed the shock of my landing, something I had mastered recently after the Soldier had pushed me off a building once to get me to hurry up. My fire had kind of acted on its own, creating a massive bubble around me as I landed on the car roof.
As I stood up from the crouch I had landed in, I slowly drew back my bubble of fire. Then, I sensed something aimed at me and I raised a flaming hand just as an arrow shot at me. It burnt to a pile of ash immediately and looked up in the direction that the arrow had come from to see a man standing there with a bow and arrow raised at me. I created a fistful of fire and threw it directly at him, causing him to duck.
I didn't get the chance to try and hit him again, instead creating a shield of fire around me as someone began to shoot at me. I turned my head slowly in their direction and saw that it was Natasha Romanoff. I summoned up more fire, greateful for another chance to kill her. I thew a ball of the hottest fire I could muster, throwing it at her, but she just dodged it and continued firing at me.
"That isn't going to work!" I told her over the peppering of gunshots, which were just burning to ash as soon as they hit my shield. She gritted her teeth but didn't back down. I created anoter ball of fire but before I could throw it at her, someone solid kocked me down to the ground. Then, it picked me up and we were flying through the air.
"You are beginning to get annoying!" I snarled at the metal man to be heard above the whipping wind, which was blowing my fire out.
"Just stop trying to kill everyone and I might stop being annoying." He told me, stopping about 500 metres in the air, holding me by my arm. I summoned up my fire again, moving his flaming hand towards his face, but before I could try to burn the metal, he dropped me. I tumbled through the air, trying to bring my concentration to form another bubble of fire around me to protect myself from the fall.
At first, it looked like the yellow below me was flying up to meet me and I watched it in confusion, but then I realised that it was a taxi still on the ground and I was just tumbling very quickly towards it. I swore loudly in Russian and covered my face with my arms before I crashed through the windscreen.
It hurt like hell, not as much as getting shot, but it was close. I groaned and let out a string of even more swears, a mix of English and Russian, and tried to heave myself out from the car. The roof had collapsed under me and the shell of the taxi had caved inwards on me from the impact. It was quite heavy to lift, despite how strong I was. I drew up the fire that had been sitting sullenly in the pit of my stomach and just as I was about to burn the roof off me when a familiar voice yelled.
"Don't burn it!" The Soldier appeared next to me. "It any fire touched that car, it will explode from the petrol and you'll be cooked inside."
"That doesn't sound like much fun." I muttered, trying to move but I winced. I had to have broken at least two ribs from the fall. "Can you hurry up and get me out then?"
"Hang on, a bit busy." He muttered, disappearing from my view, followed by a whole lot of gun shots and clanging of metal. I tried to move out from underneath the walls of the taxi again, but it just hurt even more. I focused on the areas that hurt the most, trying to figure if I could continue to fight or not. My left wrist hurt badly, probably broken. There was lots of blood trickling down both my arms, lots of glass under my skin too. My ribs were broken, some of them at least, and I couldn't feel my legs. I wasn't sure if that was a good sign.
Suddenly, the walls of the car was ripped off, blinding me with bright sunlight again. I winced and then looked up at the Soldier.
"Thanks." I nodded to him, taking the hand he was offering and he yanked me out of the car, quite roughly. I swore at him in a long string of Russian swears and he shook his head before shielding me from a pelting of bullets.
We eventually stood up, I was still a little shaky from the pain flaring through my body. The Soldier quickly stepped in front of me, raising his metal arm and catching a red, white and blue shield that had been flying towards us. He threw it back and there was the sound of someone slamming into a car.
"You good?" The Soldier asked me, breifly turning to look down at me.
"Yeah." I nodded before drawing up a ball of fire to surround me to protect myself so the Soldier didn't have to take all of the bullets. Everything hurt, but I tried to hide it as I looked at all of the Avengers assembling in front of us. There was a breif pause as we all glared at eachother before we all left back into action. Natasha came rushing at me again and I immediately flipping the gun out of her hand as she came close enough. I took her gun in my hand and looking down in surprise at the familiar feel before I looked up at her again.
"You have Glocks too?" I asked, trying to buy myself some time as my whole body screamed in pain. I was getting desperate now if I had to resort to conversation.
Natasha barely even paused, switching to hand-to-hand combat instead. I quickly slid her gun into one of my spare gun holsters and immediately started to try and defend myself. She pulled me into a headlock way too quickly, but I blamed my injuries. I kicked her in the stomach, sending her stumbling backwards. I spun around to continue fighting her when something picked me up again, causing me to groan when I recognised the feel of the metal man's hand.
"I told you to stay put." He muttered, pinning me against the side of a building. "I don't want to keep hurting you."
"Some fighter you are." I panted before he pulled me towards him in a head lock. I throught about punching in him the stomach, but I realised that the suit would probably break my knuckles. I squirmed in his grip and he just tighter his arm in the choke hold.
"Go to sleep." He said as I thrashed around in his arms. I tried to look for the Soldier, but he was nowhere to be seen. The metal man tightened his choke hold nad spots began to appear on my vision as I gasped for air.
"Go to sleep." He said more forcefully as my thrashing lessened a little as I ran out of energy.
"Let me go." I snarled but he just tightened him hold, which was enough to cut all of the oxygen coming in. I immediately fell limp in his arms and sunk the darkness of unconsciousness.
