Dorothea's POV
"You look lost." Carl Buford says while walking over to me and I stepped back.
"I am fine thank you Carl." Carl was my father's friend, who'd help my father by bringing over kids for him to rape.
"Doe, it's been a long time. Let's get together like old times." Carl says while trying to grab my arm but I run away from him back to the police station. Running into the police station, I run into JJ's arms and hid my face into her shoulder.
"JJ, did you talk to a Carl Buford?"
"No why?" JJ asked me.
"Carl would molest and rape me along with my father. I just ran away from him and I need you to protect me until Mommy comes back. Please JJ."
"I'll always protect you sunshine." JJ said before kissing my head.

JJ's POV
"Have you told your mommy about this?"
"No. I have not told her everything that happened to me while I was in James' care." Dorothea explained to me while hugging Spot close to her. Carl Buford walks over to us and Dorothea tightly grips my shirt.
"You folks work with Derek Morgan?" Carl asks us while both Hotch and Gideon noticed Dorothea's body language.
"Yes, sir, closely." Hotch says while I wrapped my arms around Dorothea in a protective gesture.
"You knew him well as a teenager?" Gideon asks him.
"One of the finest boys I ever coached. Football. I run a youth centre." Carl says.
"I gather you were instrumental in helping to get his criminal records expunged." Gideon says.
"I feel terrible about that now in view of what's happened." Carl tells us.
"What's happened is a mistake."
"I'm confused, I thought Stan said there was all kinds of evidence." Carl says before looking at Dorothea with a predatory gaze.
"Derek had a way of charming people into looking past his deficiencies." Carl says, causing me to raise an eyebrow at him.
"Excuse me, deficiencies?"
"Well, you've seen the records." Carl tells me.
"Derek was at the youth centre yesterday, wasn't he?" Hotch asks him.
"Playing football with Damien Walters and some other boys." Carl tells us.
"Carl's the one that saw them leaving together." Detective Gordinski tells us. Why doesn't that surprise me at all?
"Did you talk to him?"
"I was working inside by the time I was done, they were leaving. If you need anything else, Stan, anything at all." Carl says before leaving and Dorothea loosens her grip on my shirt.
"He's not going to touch you again, sunshine."

Emily's POV
"You shouldn't have run off, little one." Carl Buford was arrested for rape, molestation and murder of the boys. Detective Gordinski had to swallow his pride and apologize to Dorothea, proving that she was right all along. Dorothea being the bigger person, accepted the apology and forgave the man. Jason suggested that the police department get sensitivity training on how to talk to people who are neurodivergent or he'd make sure they were fired.
"I went to the thrift store to purchase a journal on Mary's advice. Instead of hurting myself, I can write it down and share it with you." Dorothea says before handing me the journal and I opened it.
"This case brought so many memories back up for me. Carl Buford raped me and many other children when I was five. The rapes only stopped when my father was arrested. I never told anyone that because I thought that I would never see him again. After running into Carl again today, I decided to tell JJ and she kept her promise to keep me safe. So now I can tell Mommy this because I know she will keep me safe." I read before looking at Dorothea.
"None of this was your fault. It was Carl's and James' fault because they knew better then to hurt children." Hugging Dorothea close to me, I placed a kiss on her forehead.
"I love you Mommy." Dorothea tells me.
"I love you too little one."
