Emily's POV

"Jim." Aaron greets Agent James Franklin as we entered the mall. Katie Jacobs has been missing for at least thirty minutes and time is critical when it comes to missing children.

"We've been in lockdown for almost twenty minutes. My team's already in motion." Agent Franklin tells us.

"Another female, same age, same time of day, taken from essentially the same location."

"What makes you sure Katie Jacobs is still in the building?" Derek asks.

"The mall's got cameras installed at every entrance and exit. Surveillance video confirms Katie entering the building, but no sign of her leaving. Security paged her over the intercom, and their initial sweep came up empty." Agent Franklin tells us.

"Whoever killed Jessica Davis last week left that mall with her because he wanted time with his victim in privacy." Spencer says.

"Assuming it's the same offender, he couldn't stray from his MO. He wouldn't leave here without his victim." Aaron says.

"So if Katie's still under this roof, so is her abductor." JJ says.

"Garcia, report to the mall's security office. Reid, Morgan, I want you to find the head of security. We need all data from every search team. You guys start with Katie's parents. We'll treat the mall like a neighbourhood, and we'll separate into areas of control. Come on." Aaron tells us before we all go our separate ways.

"Katie was last seen by her cousin in the arcade about twenty-five minutes ago. She was wearing jeans, a green shirt, grey sneakers, and ponytails." Agent Walker Jones tells me.

"Registered offenders located within a forty-five mile radius." Officer Mary Andrews says.

"Okay, run this against current and former employees as well."

"Ms. Jacobs' cell phone had Katie's picture on it. Mall security helped us make copies." Officer Andrews tells me.

"Okay, we need to get one of these to every search team, every officer, every boss. Potential witnesses need to know who we're looking for, too... Problem is our unsub could be any one of them." JJ walks over to me and indicated to a couple standing by Katie's aunt and uncle.

"There's her parents." JJ says before the two of us walk over to the family.

Elle Greenaway's POV

"What are you drawing sweetheart?" Dorothea looks up at me with a smile before showing me her picture. It was a drawing of Erin, Nicky and I at the park surrounded by tulips.

"It's beautiful Dorothea."

"Thank you Auntie Elle." Dorothea says while blushing and I couldn't help but smile before kissing her head. Erin places Dorothea's breakfast in front of her and kisses her head when Nicky enters the kitchen.

"It's a beautiful drawing angel." Erin tells Dorothea who blushes at the praise.

"Thank you Auntie Erin." Dorothea says while Nicky sits on the chair next to hers and Erin places her breakfast in front of her. Dorothea and Nicky both begin eating their breakfast while Erin and I look at them with smiles on our faces.

"I'm not a mother but I can picture us having another child together. I adore Nicky and if it's okay with you I'd like to adopt her."

"I'd love for you to adopt her Elle, but we should ask Nicky." Erin tells me.

"Yes I want that." Nicky says with a smile, letting us know ahead of time she heard the conversation.

"How about your father?" Erin asks Nicky.

"He's a deadbeat mom. I haven't seen him ever since you two guys got divorced a few years ago. Even before that he wasn't around much." Nicky tells her mother while Dorothea continues eating her food.

"You don't have any opinions on this?" I ask Dorothea who shakes her head before swallowing her food.

"The important thing is that you are all happy." Dorothea says before drinking her orange juice.

"Thank you sweetheart." Dorothea smiles and I couldn't help but smile back.

JJ's POV

"This image was captured moments before your nephew reported Katie missing." I tell Beth and Richard Jacobs referring to the image on the CTV footage.

"Oh, god." Richard says while holding in his urge to cry. Danny had a look of sympathy in his eyes towards the couple being a father himself.

"I know the angle's limited, but is there anything or anyone in the frame that you recognize?" Danny asks them.

"No." The couple both say together.

"Katie has asthma. She needs her inhaler." Beth tells us.

"H-how could someone have just taken her in front of all those people?" Richard asks us and I could see Danny thinking because he has his brows knitted together.

"That's what we're trying to figure out. We're retracing Katie's steps. We're going over surveillance footage. We're searching every crack and crevice under this roof."

"I want to be out there looking for my girl." Richard tells us.

"I'd want to be doing the same thing, but when an abduction is reported, the parents are debriefed separately. It's more efficient that way. Agent Hotchner will be talking to you in an another room." Danny says before Hotch leads Richard to another room.

"I need to talk to Agent Jareau outside for a minute. Would you like anything to drink?" Danny tells Beth who shakes her head before the two of us leave the room.

"What were you thinking?"

"It's someone Katie knows and it's not her cousin either. I think it's either the uncle or the aunt. Their vibe seems off to me." Danny tells me.

"What do you suggest we ask Beth?"

"Can you text Emily and ask her to ask if Susan Jacobs ever worked at this mall? I'll text your friend Penelope to double check my hunch." Danny tells me before I enter the room and sit down on the chair next to Beth.

"Beth, Detective Reagan suggested that it could be someone who knew Katie. Do you or Katie know who worked at this mall?"

"Susan did a while back but she couldn't do that. She adores Katie." Beth tells me while I text Emily with the new information that I had.

"Sometimes it's the people we know the most that are capable of terrible things."

"Well sometimes when she comes back from Susan's house she cries in her sleep but I assume it's just typical nightmares. She ruined her Barbie dolls last week but I don't know if that's something." Beth tells me and I instantly knew that Katie was being sexually abused.

"It's something but I want to be a hundred percent sure before I say anything." Beth nods and I know that Danny was also listening on his earpiece.
