Hyunjin PoV
Yesterday I saw Seungmin skipping school with Minho and Changbin. I didn't know where they went but I saw them leaving school.
I would have thought that I wouldn't see him today either, but he was there in English class and I actually wanted to go up to him and talk to him, which didn't work.
I was so nervous I just couldn't go talk to him. My legs were shaky and of course our team project still wasn't finished, which was why we had to go back to our partner and continue working on it.
Seungmin was writing something down, I didn't know what but I didn't want to disturb him so I looked at him.
How his hair was slightly in his face and his glasses made him look like a little nerd.
A very good looking nerd.
But even though he looked so beautiful, the deep dark circles under his eyes bothered me. He looked so exhausted, tired and done with his life.
And I didn't like that.
Because I was staring at him, I didn't realize he was asking me something.
Three times.
"Damn it, Hyunjin, are you even listening to me?"
I shook my head and told him what was going through my head without even thinking about what I was saying.
"Suppose a group of people are told to decide what is fair and what is not fair. Let's say there are three people, one is appointed CEO of a well-known brand, the other is born a woman does the same job as he does in another branch but gets less money, the last one was born into a poor family and will never be able to escape this cycle. The CEO will say that he doesn't care how fair everything is because he has money and success, the other two will fight for justice. Nevertheless, it would be like in our world. But now imagine that the three people are not told what they will be in their world, they don't know, so they have to assume the worst, which in turn means that they also want justice for everyone because they could end up as minority. So a world created by this thought would be a better place? Do you understand what I mean?"
The younger one looked at me, blinked a few times. "What? That was pretty random," he said, continuing to play with the pen.
"Just imagine it. It would be like that, wouldn't it?" I said.
"I think so," he answered a little coldly and wrote something else on the piece of paper.
"You're not much help in partner work, do you realize that?" He said and I thought for a moment. I probably really wasn't much help, the only thing I did was look at him and his beauty.
I scratched the back of my neck, slightly embarrassed. "Sorry, I'm a little distracted."
"What's distracting you? Get rid of it." When he said that I had to smile a little. He was mainly distracting me. But my thoughts too...
"If it were that easy, I would."
"If you have any thoughts on your mind, get rid of them, tell one of your friends and if you don't want to then just suppress those thoughts, pretend that they don't bother you then they won't distract you."
I sighed. "But it's just pretending."
"If pretending is the only thing that can protect you, then it's better this way."
Our eyes met and I could see so much pain in Seungmin's eyes. It was like they were calling for help, like they were trying to talk to me.
"Minnie, what's bothering you?"
The bell rang for break and the person being addressed looked at me with a slightly shocked expression. He was about to say something when Mr. Lee started picking up the projects and when he got to our table he looked at me and then at Seungmin with a weird expression. He took the piece of paper in his hand, read the text, put it back on the table and said: "You can stay here for another hour and write it again."
"What why?!" Seungmin asked a little louder so that the students who hadn't packed their things and hadn't left yet noticed us. "Because Hwang didn't do anything and you did the whole task alone."
"But I have to go to my next class," I said. "I'll let your next teacher know that you're not coming to class. I'm in the teachers room and I want a new project in one hour with both of your ideas and handwriting."
He grabbed his bag from the teacher's table and walked out of the class.
At first it was quiet and then I heard Seungmin sigh loudly. "This is your fault."
"I know," I said quietly, not looking at the younger one. My next class was art and I loved art. The silence was a little oppressive but I could still feel a little warmth. I didn't know why there was warmth but it was there somehow.
He pushed a piece of paper towards me and said, "Let's brainstorm ideas together. Then we'll write it down and hand it to Mr. Lee. Quick." His voice was calmer than before, not as tense and his whole posture was different.
We started discussing the topic and found some pretty good points that we could write down, a few times Seungmin made comments that I couldn't help but laugh out loud. He was funny without meaning or even realizing it.
Time passed too quickly and we didn't manage to finish it in an hour. As I was writing down the last sentence, Mr. Lee came back into the class and wanted to know how long it would take us. We gave him the note and he smiled. "Good job."
We both packed our school bags and Seungmin almost ran away from me.
I said goodbye to the teacher and quickly went out and tried to catch up with Seungmin. He didn't stop at the cat even when it came out and meowed briefly. I walked even faster and almost managed to catch up with him when he turned to me and asked: "Hyunjin what do you want?"
I cracked my index finger and replied, "I just want to go home."
The younger one looked at me suspiciously, raised an eyebrow and asked again: "What do you want?"
