The chapter begins by showing darkness and then Kawaki's voice saying :
The scene shows a sad 7-year-old Kawaki walking nervously in a pitch-black environment from his 1st person point of view. As he walked forward aimlessly, he suddenly saw a black gold fish with a white accent to its scale leaping in front of him and came back down making a splashing sound. Since he couldn't see in the dark, he used his ears to hear the splashing sound and followed where the fish went. Slowly the sound of splashing disappeared and only his own breathing was heard. Afraid of the dark, he then closed his eyes for a few seconds and opened them again. This time he saw a small light a few meters away. Fearing that the light might be moving away from him, 7-year-old Kawaki started running towards it and the scene slowly faded to white as he got closer to it.
The scene then fades out to reveal teenage Kawaki walking through the middle of Konoha city. As he was walking, he also stared at the stone face of the 7th Hokage while saying to himself "It's..... pretty peaceful"
Suddenly a small child bumped into him. Kawaki then looked down curiously wanting to know who it was. Turns out it was the same kid he ran into years ago when he first went out with Naruto & Sarada. Kawaki recognizes him and says "Wait, aren't you...". He then remembers this moment:
