The Morning After: March 28, 2023: On Hoenn Island
Charlie and Gardevoir woke up at the same time, though Gardevoir was outside, thirty feet tall, alternating between keeping watch and sleeping. Charlie told her she didn’t have to do that, but Gardevoir insisted, and Charlie didn’t want to argue with a psychic Pokemon, who was four or five times his height and size, so he let her.
“Anything happen?” Charlie asked as he walked outside to greet his Pokemon, who was still in that giant state, for she had feared something was going to happen in the middle of the night. “Something is about to, here comes Parsons down the path, sans Dan.
Guess Dan was frightened enough to not come back, but Parsons ran out early.” Gardevoir said.
Parsons got to Charlie’s wooden house, and his eyes very nearly popped out of his head when he saw the thirty-foot-tall Gardevoir. Keep in mind, Charlie’s house is two stories plus an attic, that is roughly thirty feet tall. So Gardevoir is the same height as the house.
“H-hey, there, I’m v-v-very s-s-sorry about last n-night.” stuttered Parsons.
“You wouldn’t be saying that if I wasn’t so big.” Gardevoir said with a mad look on her face, and as she grew another five feet to try to scare away Parsons, without having to use force. She thought that if she wasn’t there and so big, there would be no apologizing, just Charlie getting beaten up and Charlie’s money being stolen.
“You wouldn’t be saying that without me, I think your apology is fake, and you're just trying to bow out of this situation as peacefully as possible.” Gardevoir accused.
“You’re r-r-right. I j-just w-want t-to get on good terms with you s-so I-I don’t g-get seriously h-hurt b-by a giant Gardevoir, who l-loves her owner v-very m-m-much.” Parsons managed to stutter out.
“Alright, if you can run down the first quarter of this path in one minute, I’ll let you leave now. If not….., then well, you’ll regret it.” Gardevoir said. However, just like last night, Gardevoir gave Charlie a wink that only he saw. Charlie understood what she meant.
“I’ll keep count in my head, and I can see you from my thirty-five-foot bird’s-eye view, so don’t try to run all the way away, I have many ways of catching you. No. Funny. Business. Understand?” Gardevoir said.
“On your mark. Get ready. Go!” Charlie said.
Parsons shot off and he ran as fast as he could. When he crossed the preset line, he turned around, walked back, and looked at the thirty-five-foot Gardevoir, for the time.
Gardevoir bent over and whispered the time to Charlie.
“I just told Charlie your time, and he’ll be the one to tell you.” Gardevoir said.
“Your time was…. 60.56 seconds. A little over half a second too slow.” Charlie reported.
“No, n-n-no, are you going to p-penalize me over 0.56 seconds?” asked Parsons in an extremely worried voice and a worried face.
“Yes, I believe I’m going to have to.” Gardevoir said in a disappointed voice.
Gardevoir once again gave Charlie the secret wink.
“Gardevoir is disappointed in you.” Gardevoir said.
Gardevoir then picked up Parsons, without even bothering to use telekinesis.
“N-no, p-please, this grip y-you h-have o-on me is tight, d-don’t hurt m-me f-further!” Parsons said.
To make a point, despite the fact the thirty-five feet she was at made her point clear already, she grew five more feet, to make her forty feet tall.
“I am going to tell you what I told Dan last night. You had best leave Charlie alone, or you will regret having shoved him down five years ago on the path.” Gardevoir said
She then let him go back down to the ground, and she let him run away.
“Well, yesterday, when you said that for all those years, you felt that you could never repay me for my loving and caring for you, but now, I feel like I don’t think that I could ever repay you!” Charlie told Gardevoir.
“Just keep doing what you’re doing, you have done so much for me, I feel like I am only barely settling my debt with you.” Gardevoir said.
“Let’s go eat breakfast.” Gardevoir said as she shrank back to her normal five-foot self.
“Yeah, I’m starving. Man, what a day, and it ain’t even ten o’clock yet!” Charlie said as they walked back into the house.
“What a day indeed.” Gardevoir said.
