Chapter 4
It took me a millions of tissues, twenty plus movies, ten tubs of ice cream and a whole month to get Haley to even remotely behave like a normal person. She wouldn't go out, start crying at strange situation and times. She wouldn't even curse Luke or touch a drop of alcohol. It was like she had turned into Mother Teresa after her break up.
Finally, one beautiful day of fall, she called me up out of nowhere. "Al," She said, her voice had a confidence I thought she had lost. "Enough is enough. I'm gonna fucking move on."
"Wow, that's so great. It's time you finally do it. I'm proud of you girl." My voice sounded relieved as I didn't have to deal with the depressed Haley anymore. The fun Haley was back.
The next week Becky was coming back home from her long trip with her family. A girls night plan was ready to commence. We decided to barge into Haley's house and spend the evening watching movies and the night stalking hot guys on social media. It was our way of helping Haley move on with her life.
"You look good, Hales." Becky was the last one to arrive. She had a bag hanging on her shoulder and a crate of beer which she must've gotten from her fake ID.
"Thanks." Haley said in a dull voice. Becky sat on the couch and turned to face us.
"No more talk about boyfriends or exes or boys in general." I directed.
"Tell me about it." Becky sprawled her legs and opened a beer. "I just met the shittiest guy ever. I'm done with boys."
Obviously, our curiosity ignited but I knew my words and chose not to question Becky. But Haley was intrigued and she piped in, "Who?" Although, we had just agreed not to talk about boys we somehow ended up talking about them. It was a vicious circle. One of us would confidently ban boy talk and then another would start out of nowhere.
After hearing Becky's vacation fling who had promised to call her but didn't, I told them about Cameron's fear of surgery and how he was dwelling on medicines and then we were officially done talking about boys. For one and only one reason. Instagram. God bless Instagram.
I wasn't on this magical social media platform for the natural reason that I hate taking pictures, but Becky was pretty enough to show off herself on this website. And I was so thankful to her for that, I could've given her a million dollars for that. She opened up her account and showed us profiles of a bunch of male models she follows. I swear my eyes had never adored such beautiful specimens before.
As she scrolled down on her phone and we kept drooling and making weird dying noises, I fell in love like a hundred times. There was a picture of a guy, shirtless, body of a sex God, wearing a really intense look, his abs screaming to be licked. "Marry me, please!" We three pleaded helplessly at the picture.
"God, you awoke my senses!" Haley enthusiastically said after we were done stalking dreamy and unnaturally hot guys.
"They are so hot it should be illegal." I sighed imagining their naked bodies.
"You shouldn't even be looking you have a boyfriend." Becky teased playfully. I wasn't offended because I knew Cameron wouldn't mind as these guys were a fantasy. I always played with him talking about sexy movie stars. And he would just be like, 'Yeah, of course. They're so better than me.'
I shrugged letting her words slip off my mind.
After that we ate ice creams and talked about our upcoming college life. We were all separating in a month. Becky was going to Chicago while Haley was staying in Tucson. It was all happening so fast especially for me. I was the first one leaving as my college life was starting in late August roughly one month ahead of others.
