Chapter 17
"You know, the reception women wouldn't allow me in like this." I comment waving a hand over my casual attire.
"She's crazy because you look hot in jeans." He bumps his shoulder to mine playfully and I answer with a loud giggle that makes every sophisticated person in the lobby give me a condescending look.
"So... Is it necessary to change into something formal?" I ask in a low voice.
"Yes. My mom's all about first impressions."
"Fine, you stay here while I go change in the washroom."
"No. You can change in my room."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. Come on now, where's your luggage?"
He takes my luggage while I stand and notice the reception lady staring at us. She's probably realizing that I wasn't lying when I said I kne w a close relative. I give her a grin and she turns back to typing on her computer.
We enter the elevator and since we're alone I lean my head onto his arm. "Oh, so someone missed me, huh?" He asks in a gentle tone.
"Did I tell you that you look very hot in a suit?" I tilt my head to look up at him with want filled eyes. His lips look so inviting and warm on this cold night that I'm pleasured to give him a kiss.
"You missed me?" He asks again.
"Of course. I missed you." I know he likes hearing that, when I proclaim my immense love for him. The elevator stops at the twelfth floor and we stroll into the hallway while I'm still leaning onto his arm.
The first door in the hall is a big glass double door and when we pass by it, Cameron informs me, "This is the reception hall. My room's just on the corner."
I nod and we keep moving lost in each other's presence. We walk almost mechanically to the end of the hall when a high pitch scream pierces our space, "Cameron!"
Cameron immediately swivels around while I slowly turn to look at the noise. I dread the lady treading towards us. "Mom?" His voice tells me he's having the same feeling as me.
She stops before us and looks at us sharply which makes my hand automatically drop away from his arm."Cameron, we were looking for you. You know you're supposed to be in there. All our clients are inside. What kind of image you're making in front of them?"
"Yeah. I know. But, mom I want you to meet Ally." He says very slowly and she turns her head towards me as if she is noticing my presence just now. He adds after a long pause, "She's my girlfriend that I told you about."
"Hmm... Oh, you used to be Callum's tutor, right? I remember you." His mom says sweetly and I feel the tension releasing in the environment. Even though she was saying it with a smile, something about her was making it sound like disdain.
"Yes, mam." I nod and smile against my thoughts.
She roams her gaze all over me. "You're coming to the reception like this?"
"No, mam. I'm going to change."
"Yes, mom. That's why I was showing her to my room."
"Oh, so you can just give her the key because I need you in there Cameron. Right now." His mom demanded. A part of me wished he would refuse and accompany me but the other part was sure he wouldn't.
"Yes, mom. I'm coming. Here, Ally. " He hands me the keys and I see the guilt in his eyes. He bows his head and then the mother and son strutt back to the reception hall.
