Chapter 15
I stare at him like a deer caught in headlights. I'm sure he can see the panic in my eyes because he looks amused.
"Don't ask me to marry you!" My voice trembles as I warn him.
He doesn't flinch. "Shh. I just want to tell you that, " He says, "I've been thinking about this moment since the day we started dating. I've always wanted to make this moment perfect for you... " The way he said it gazing into my eyes it definitely looked like a proposal. My head was showing me signs in neon red- 'It's too fast and dangerous!'
I have been dreading this moment since forever. I don't want to get married anytime soon. Hell, I never want to get married, it's too big of a commitment.
"So, Ally Parker," He says slowly, each word making my heart beat faster, "Will you do me the honor of sharing..." He takes the longest pause and my heart stops, "...this breakfast with me?" Suddenly, he twirls a plate of pancakes that were hiding behind his back and holds it to me.
He laughs loudly probably loving the sheer terror that had come on my face. He continues, "And... will you marry me?" He cracks into fits of laughter again and I know he's joking. He's still holding the plate on his palm thrusted towards me.
I feel so relieved because it was all a joke and I don't have to actually break his heart. "You fucking scared me." I finally laugh along and he gets up and grabs my hand pulling me behind him.
"Come on, let's eat. I wanna tell you something." We sit on the counter beside each other and I take a bite of the pancakes and feed him a little with my fork.
He takes a deep breath and gives me a smile. "In the holidays, there is my cousin's wedding which I want you to attend. And there I'll introduce to my parents. It would be perfect."
"Okay..." I drag hanging on the words as I processed it. "I guess that's good."
"I just hope they like you as much as I do." He says, still smiling. His face shows he's extremely excited for me to meet his family while I'm scared to death.
"I don't know. Let's see. When's the wedding though?"
"December 18. I'm leaving on 12th right after the exams."
"Damn, I've exams till 16th. I'll come on 17th then."
"Sure. As you want. Just please do come." He ends giving me a smile and I smile back as I started imagining scenarios in my head when I'll be face to face with his terrible mother. It's a daunting task to tolerate her, I can't bear her like Cameron does. I fear I might say something which I shouldn't to her like how inconsiderate of a mother she is or how she holds high esteem in being materialistic woman.
"And Happy Thanksgiving! Our first together!" He exclaims giving me a side hug.
"Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for you!" I let my head fall into the crook of his neck, loving the warmth. Eight months of being together. Yes, I clearly remember our time together. Sometimes, I still feel like I'm in a movie. I've had so much going in my life. It feels like a movie full of adventure, drama, romance and ballads. I feel so alive.
"Hey, you should've seen your face when I was down on my knee. Although, I'm little hurt that if I asked you to marry me you'd say no?" He asks and I try to think of an explanation that wouldn't hurt him.
"Uh... I just... I... " I start but I draw a blank.
"Honestly, I can't believe you right now." His voice sounds slightly angrier, his grip on me loosens. Before I can have a chance to say anything, his phone rings and his hand on my shoulder drops.
